He injured one hand in some minor accident and when for physical therapy one it to get it back to normal. They start off with getting a base line for hand strength. With an injured hand he pegged the highest reading on the strength meter they ever had before.
The all wanted to be sure he gave it a good squeeze when he was healed up to have a new benchmark.

I believe you, one report said Americans have lost 40 percent of their grab strength in the last 40 years because we have gone away from manual labor.

My mom used to knead bread when I was a kid, I bet she had better grip strength than I do now, and I work out. :D

One of the regulars at the cigar lounge used to be an auto mechanic but for the last 20 years has been laying tile and building houses. He can terrorize the I.T. guys with his grip if he wants to. One loud mouth was on his knees after a friendly scuffle, laughing the whole time as he was taken away by the grip strength that took his +350 lbs to the floor like a leaf with an arm pull and twist. I told him beforehand this would happen, he just had to test my theory.

I saw a TV show once about the arm wrestling champ that loved to go to different bars all over the country and whip the local champ. Then he went to Oregon, and a logging town. A normal sized guy sat down at his table and put down the champ with ease. He said every guy in there was crazy strong from hard work. He quietly left town very humbled by men that perform hard work every day for a decades.

I personally witnessed this back in the day. Got a call from my deceased best buddy David. Told me that there was going to be an arm wrestling tourney in Sweet Home, Oregon and that his little brothers, his little sister, and the Keeneys (badass loggers from Cascadia) were entering. Contest put on by a promoter from Portland, bringing the city champs. Bottom line? Nobody from Portland won their weight class! One I'll never forget was then 15 year old Kevin Keeney...had to wait outside the bar until his match was called. They had problems getting the grip..finally Kevin said: "okay, grab my thumb you cheating old man. I'm going to beat you anyway."
And he did...

It doesn't pay to mess with loggers...people who run up & down steep hills all day packing chain saws, heavy choker cables. other stuff.

Okay, a random pic...tho it's pretty tough to find anything better than the "grandma" poster.

Hmm..wtf? Can't get one to upload. Oh well...
