You're absolutely correct that there will be plenty of people getting in trouble and pulling the pin. These should only be used as a last resort after the pilot has tried to "fly the plane" and failed.

I think the FAA still credits "failing to fly the plane" as one of the leading causes of IPDS. (instant pilot death syndrome)

That was one thing that my initial instructor, who was a cranky old-timer, always stressed. He said, in an emergency, forget about maps, radios, and gadgets... none of them will save your life if you stop flying the plane - you have to fly the plane.

Now, to put this thread back on topic:

FWIW, I've read that the insurance cost on the Cirrus is quite high due to its high accident ratio. Seems many with money gravitate to this aircraft possibly earlier than they should becuase they have money and can affor the nice plane/chute combo.

I'll take the far left please - you guys can fight over the other two

Joeaksa 01-03-2007 09:52 AM

Any of them, no fighting needed. If I had to the two blondes are a bit cuter...

trader220 01-03-2007 09:54 AM

Each time I settle on one I make a strong case for one of the other two.

masraum 01-03-2007 11:11 AM

I vote for the Brunnette on the far right. She looks like she really knows how to handle a ratchet.

The ship is the first of its kind in the Navy and is a standing legacy to President Bill Clinton "for his foresight in military budget cuts" and his conduct while president. The ship is constructed nearly entirely from recycled aluminum and is completely solar powered with a top speed of 5 knots. It boasts an arsenal comprised of one (unarmed) F14 Tomcat or one (unarmed) F18 Hornet aircraft which although they cannot be launched or captured on the 100 foot flight deck, but form a very menacing presence.

An onboard Type One DNC Universal Translator can send out messages of apology in any language to anyone who may find America offensive. The number of apologies are limitless and though some may sound hollow and disingenuous, the Navy advises all apologies will sound very sincere.
