Sorry about misnaming widebody911. The rest of what I said stands. Whether that girl was hurt or not, edited or not, there have been plenty of videos of people hurt or appearing to be hurt. Others have mentioned this before and I'm chiming in. I'll ignore widebody911 the next time I see something like that posted. No big deal- I'm just calling it out.

I don't think Schadenfreude quite covers it. If you enjoy seeing others physically hurt, then I suggest you have an issue. I'm tired of seeing it on this forum, so fortunately there's a an ignorenfreude option.

Time to put widebody911 on ignore then !

Do I want to see someone get hurt in a horrific car accident? of course not... Do I laugh out loud when a drunk person falls off a balcony, flattens a card table, rolls off the end and slides down into a swimming pool? Heck yes I do!!! I have several channels I watch daily for that humor.. (like the small kids above.. that made me chuckle..) Does that make me sadistic? Geez.. I have empathy for a lot of those video clips, but most of them are still pretty darn funny.. and my mandatory pic.. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1571005499.jpg |

I don’t mind a pratfall, but when somebody appears to be significantly hurt (like a car accident as you mention), I don’t find it entertaining or appropriate material for this kind of thread. I’m not familiar with Ridiculousness or All Fails, so I don’t know what’s there.
Enjoying watching people significantly hurt is sadistic as far as I’m concerned. That’s what I’m not interested in seeing and I’m asking widebody911 to not post those here. I’m thinking we’re really not in disagreement here. |
In all fairness I agree with you Steve. If someone is being a good sport about something that happened, laughing at themselves if you will, I see no harm in it. The organized meanness or repetition of something that's painful or intended to demean and bully tracks right along with an overall decrease of civility. When we stop seeing each other as beings, we're giving in to the call of a lower form of humor that's easy and doesn't require thought. Which is the apex of a slippery slope.
One man's opinion. With a pic. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1571006970.jpg |

Can someone fix this thread so pictures that have already been posted can not be posted again?
BTW this was the lunchbox I had in 2nd grade. I found the pic of it online. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1571010807.jpg |
I've never seen this version of Tank Man before. Click to get the full-size image

This isn't bad <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/I-hT2ejQS7k" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> But there's another one where a (drunk) guy gets a running start, and dives like superman. He makes it almost all of the way down before he catches himself ...with his face. Not dead. At the time, I saw pics on a website, his face had many parallel red marks. He was surprisingly intact and in good spirits. There was a fair amount of blood. Because of the blood, I won't post the GIF here. |

It isn’t named the ‘appropriate and safe’ pictures thread. There are quite a lot of other places you could spend your time online if you are highly sensitive. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/1227331.jpg |
I'm not the only one who has objected to these videos, Clapper. As you suggested, there are plenty of places YOU can go to satisfy your need to see other people injured. Maybe just ask yourself why you find that kind of thing enjoyable and why everyone here needs to be subjected to it.

Is that supposed to be funny? It just comes off as rude.
