Dave,

Is this a pic of fingpilots laptop motherboard? If so why in the hell does a company make the CMOS batteries so hard to change?

I just did a complete hard drive, RAM, new keyboard and external surround with touchpad and mouse change on my Dell laptop in less than 20 minutes with one screwdriver and no hassle. Getting to those batteries sure does not appear to be easy...

eeh,remove/lift keyboard pull cable , detach batteries
put in new batteries, re-attach little cable, put keyboard back?

besides, those thingies, usually last the lifespan of the laptop... they're not a wear-item

Since we are on page 599, I thought this would be fitting.

Sweet Jim I been to CR about 1/2 dozen times to surf and never had crowd issues, we took a boat up to Nic and surfed some places where we didnt see people for 2 or 3 days.

Sorry, not on this laptop. Wish it was that easy.

If they are not a "wear item" whatever that is, then why do they now use easily replaceable batteries instead of the old style batteries that were soldered onto the motherboard like in the old days? Sometimes the batteries outlast the computer but sometimes not.

In Detail - Wright Street Car: Is it a bird, is it a plane, or, er, a hovercraft, or a maybe a train? Well, whatever it is, obviously Wright and Volvo think it is the future ('ftr' being texting shorthand for the word 'future'). With a 'Wow' factor of, well, 'quite-a-lot', the styling of this vehicle is, surely, more advanced than the motor car(!)(?). The 'ftr' system is an example of the new public transport concept of Bus Rapid Transit, in this case using articulated buses developed by the Wright Group and Volvo for First Group plc in conjunction with infrastructure upgrades, provided by the local authority. they probably changed to the replacables because in the old days they want south about 4 times a year, but these days , i have to say , haven't had to replace a cmos battery in probably the last 8 years... and i work in IT..
even old mother boards i pull from a storage shelf, or old servers that haven't been running for a year... plug em in, might get a cmos reset message, but usually the battery will simply recharge with use...
