just got this one from the shop
alu frame, carbon fork , it's quite light
did get an ATB style handle bar
i'm just starting off cycling, and the race handle bar looks just wrong without the click pedals/shoes, and i'm not quite ready to splash out on the full race gear, at least not untill i can actually do 30 clicks + at some decent speed...

ideally would have wanted this one

but since that sucker costs more then my 944S is worth, i figure it would be sortoff overdoing things just a liiiiitle bit :D

The car is digitized with a hand controlled scanning arm and then modeled in 3D Max.

The Ferrari 275 GTB
Quote:

On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris. The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine, through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur. No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit. The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets. Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground until a DVD release a few years ago.

Hate to break it to you but that was not a ferrari but a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 used to film the run through the paris streets.

That's what Wilkipedia leans towards - see link which was provided, guess we will never know for sure.

Recent claims made by the director himself, however, suggest he drove his own Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 in the film and dubbed the sound effects of a Ferrari 275GTB. Several independent groups have verified that the car in the film never reaches past 140 km/h (85mph)
Some people think the sound was added in afterwords in either case.

Check out this Google Map & Video Mash Up version.

I am more impressed with the video knowing it's a Mercedes not the Ferrari. At a few points the speeds don't seem right; rumor is they sped up parts of the video.

I've never heard a Mercedes theory, where did you hear that? It doesn't sound like a Benz...

No the audio and speed of video dont match.

it also says at end of video remastered, so, they probably redid the audio..

also, this was a Film short, not just a fast run. at end, a woman walks up steps into the arms of driver, so its choreographed.

you can confirm the distance traveled on the map and you will see dude wasnt going 145MPH at any time.

never the less, Well done!
