Hey Joe, do you ever land that in Denver at Jeffco?
Old school Bauer wearer here. I think my current skates are 7000's, but I got them in 2001, so they don't look exactly like these (I wear em usually at least twice a week still to play...). The Graf's don't really fit my goofy feet for some reason. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1182437996.gif |

Bsiple... I am really a CCM guy and I bought a pair of Graf Ultra G-5's last summer wore them 3 times and returned them, they didn’t fit my feet either. I am on the ice at least 3 times a week 52 weeks a year between coaching and playing. Tonight I have practice for my 1998 and 1997 teams which are entered in the national AAA tournament next week, and then I have an over 40 league game. I’ll be at the rink from 5:30 to 110:30 tonight.
I wear the CCM Pro Tacks now. Its killing me they are canning the whole “tacks” line since I have worn them for 35 years. Here is a pic. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1182438737.gif |
Good stuff, I have had CCM's in the past. I agree its a bummer they are killing the tacks. I am in a couple of adult leagues as well. My doughter is 4, and knows how to sakte, and I hoping my 1 year old son wants to play when he gets older.
Random pic of my pug while camping. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1182439676.jpg |
Durign the regular season I coach in the Little Flyers Organization, I expect our Squirt Major team this season to be on of the top in the country.
I pray like heck that my 10 month old son will want to play hockey. I expect to get him on skates asap, I didnt start till I was 6 and I am almost 43 now.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1182440077.jpg |
Okay, I'm from Canada, and I play more than trader220, but even I've seen enough skate pictures!

Just throw a new bulb in there and you are ready to roll.

You boys need to come to ATL where the REAL hockey is! Im like you, I play 3 times a week, coach bantams twice a week and this year am involved with the local travel team. Next year my son will be able to play with me and his grandfather in the local mens league. I cant wait for that.
www.atlantahockey.org I was a Tacks wearer my whole life and when it came time to upgrade, i could not find a pair of the newer versions that fit my feet, so i went to the highly recommended Grafs. OMG, the BEST skate i have ever worn by far. They make 3-4 different footbeds for all differnt kinds of feet, so to say they dont fit your feet, means you tried on the wrong type. |
No skates? well okay... I recently swithced to the stcik pictured below and even though I snaped on one a faceoff Easton replaced it right away and I really love it.

Rattl,
I think had I gone with the 705's they'd have worked better for me. Graf makes a really nice boot. I am just a CCM guy at heart. I really love these Pro Tacks, by far the best I have ever skated on. They're really stiff and I don’t lace my skates very tight so it took some getting used to. I love the lace lock because I prefer a little more tightness in the lower eyelets and a bit looser up top. The issue I had with the G-5 Ultra’s is they were really low cut. The 705’s are more of a traditional boot and they might have worked better. When you buy the top of the line skates from any of the big guys it’s really only about personal preference, I think all the top skates are so good these days. My over 40 team is sponsored by a local Hockey Shop so it’s pretty easy for me to switch skates like I did with the G-5's. The shops owner is a guy I have done business with for 25 years and his son moved back from Atlanta 4 years ago where he played a ton of hockey. My little Flyers Squirt Major team travels huge and I expect them to contend for the national championship in Tier 1 AAA. We recruited very heavy to fill the gaps in our team, I am looking forward to our opening Tournament in Rochester the last weekend in Aug. Saturday afternoon is “mens” day at the hockey shop and some of my over 40 team mates hang out there and shoot the chit. I take my 10 month old son with me. I tried on the Easton S15’s. Wholly Chit they’re the lightest skates I have ever seen and they fit like slippers. Had they been out when I bought the Pro Tacks they may have been the call. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1182442749.jpg |
If Bending Branches still made sticks I wouldn't use a composite stick.
(edited since I misread what you had written) I agree that kids should learn how to play with a wood stick). When I was little we just cut them down... Bill |
PBH,
Its getting harder and harder to find youth sticks in anything but composite now and Every signle kid on my 1998 tourney team and 1997 tourney team uses a composite. |
more no skates

Have had this hanging in my garage for a few years. Found out it's worth a few bucks, so time to move it inside.
