The red car is a DeKon Monza, not a Vega, and I believe it was designed by Lee Dykstra. It was also the first fully tube framed car to run in IMSA. Al Holbert ran a beautiful blue one. My favorite IMSA car from that era. the Panorama ran article on the Chevy-Porsche wars for the years they were competitive. 355 small block. Very innovative for its time.

That was a good weekend although a little thin for cars.

Me (#76) on the grid that weekend:

I got some vintage car race pics. From CVAR at Hallett, OK.

See I'm not just about airplanes and satellite dish hatin'....lol

Here is what Ii thought was a neat series of pics showing some 3-wheeling, a little drifting, and some off-roading. Unfortunately I was using a telephoto lens and didn't see the dirt fly when the lead car dropped a tire till I reviewed the pics at home.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177719193.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177719214.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177719230.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177719241.jpg

And the Bosses 71 911T with 2.2 S motor with stinger exhaust. It sounds so sweet.

Eric -- Nice 911 vintage racer. I have always wanted to vintage race a 911. I agree it was a thin field. It was the smallest car turnout I remember. Not sure why, but they did move it from the traditional June date. In fact, if I remember correctly, it was the same weekend as the Monterrey Historics.

swa -- Interesting that you posted a photo of the same "jigsaw puzzle" Mini that I did. My photo was taken at Mid-Ohio. I remember that it had OK plates because I used to live in Norman, OK.

swa911 04-27-2007 05:04 PM

That jigsaw Mini pic reminded me I had all these pics from Hallett, so I figured I'd throw up a few.

Racing Vega's oh yea. I had a Cosworth Vega and it flew but not as neat as this one.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1177725775.jpg

Slider -- I agree, they are kind of cool. I do remember the Monza race cars &, yes, they remind me of those cars too. I guess I just think a Vega is a weird starting point for a race car. Having said that, I can't imagine that there are many (any?) actual Vega parts on the car.

Here are a few more photos from the 2006 Mid-Ohio vintage races.

That's Dave from Yard Racing in the white. Spent many a long night at Siebkins with the Yard boys pounding back brews. Makes me miss the vintage scene a bit.

Yeah, that car was sweet. The best part is that it wasn't just all show. He drove it on the track too.

I love the Seahorse logo! That's got to be good for 15% more horsepower.
