Yeah - Imagine if we all went the apple way and look at what their network design has been for the last 20 years. Less secure and less robust than any microsoft based protocol and microsoft has supported TCPIP since Windows 95 internally. Macs haven't supported IP internally for nearly as long nor as well. Appletalk was the worst network protocol ever - EVER!
That's just my interpretation of history though. Personally I really think Macs are cool and if my iBook hadn't been so slow I would have kept using it. Since putting a faster hard drive requires removing more screws than are in the space shuttle as a whole I haven't done it. Instead I got an IBM P4 laptop running Linux and Windows and it's fast as hell.
If I was in a graphics orientated position or in a position that required some amount of visual creativity a MAC would be my #1 choice without question or hesitation. But...anything else the architecture cost benefit isn't there. The intel hardware is cheaper and easier to support and I can run Linux or Windows or BOTH and not have to worry about application interoperability (though with the MAC I could always run LINUX as well).
