Not enough guys are doing the "Col. Sander's" goatee or mutton chops. That really should be the next big thing.

1.5T and above MRI's typically use 1G Superconductor wire that is cooled by Liquid Helium (4K) in a cryostat. This is the most common type of MRI installation.

Yup, that's right. The pic I posted was from an install we were doing. A contractor was working on the sprinkler system. Had the sprinkler lines charged with air and was locating/repairing leaks. He took this bottle into the room and got too close. I took the pic with my phone.
Here's some I took before we ramped down the magnet to remove the bottle. The rope was to keep it from falling to the floor once the field was too weak to hold it up.

Never worked on the .3T systems much but all .7T, 1.5T and 3T use Nitrogen to cool the cryostat during manufacturing till temps are low enough for helium to "pool". Then we add liqiud helium to keep the wire superconductive.

Actually Grace is under 30, Nancy mid-30's, Christina is under 30 and Natalie again mid-30's or so. The last two are black belts and can kick just about any guys assets, and Nat rides a "Paris to Dakar" motocross motorcycle to work most of the time until it snows. Tough gal but melts with flowers or chocolate...
