Yup, and the fact that the court is refusing to review petitions to charge nato leaders for attacking civilian targets like automotive and chemical plants and television stations is giving him a lot of ammuntion against the hypocrisy of the court.

Lets also not forget that the US has refused to submit to internation law when it comes to charging US citizens, primarily its leaders, when it comes to crimes against humanity.

And despite all the talk of the evils of WMD the US refuses to agree to the CBW treaty since it does not want inspectors having access to US CBW facilities and its subcontractors (many of which are large pharmaceutical companies).

Which makes the US' decision to exclude countries from the primary bidding process all the more bizarre (it lessens competition, and antagonised "allies" instead of taking the opportunity to rebuild relationships).

Sort of a lose/lose situation, really.

"business is business"
if that is a common belief for all here ?
then the rest of the "situation" is easier to figure, huh.

the historical horror is the death and destruction

Wouldn't it be too funny if Bush was standing on top of the manhole cover Saddam was hiding under during his alleged recent visit?

I haven't been following this too closely in the media, but:

Have they proved this was Sadam? Was a DNA test performed to validate this is him and not his stunt double/press conference double?

I'm not usually an adherent to conspiracy theories, but this wouldn't be the first time our government has misspoke (lied) to the masses about what's really going on. Outside of the military and govt. officials, who can validate who this person is? Can anyone summarize the details. I'd rather hear it from someone more credible than Hannity tomorrow morning.

I have no reason to believe this isn't Sadam, but what if this was conjured up to mislead? I can think the psychological advantage and public opinion would be huge. Jessica Lynch is one recent story.

I was around during the Kennedy assisination and the follow up Warren Commission so I understand how things can twist and turn as revelations are made... or maybe I've been watching too many B movies.

Supposedly DNA tests have been made (according to reports).

The military must have a special lab running around for stuff like this concidering how long things like this normally take.

I would not be one to dismiss it if they claim there is a DNA link since that would be idiotic to screw up this type of news but when we concider all the WMD and other misinformation has been made up lately I retain a small bit of skepticism too.

I think the reason is that the whole region needed a tune up.
Twin Towers was an act of war.
Flushing out the whole sump required then current US political unison and US bucks.
Afg. was a routine sweep without expecting to get paid back for expenses for a very long time. I'd invest in the 1st company to lay fiber optic thru the whole country/easy someday.
But the very early Bush push for cleaning Iraq was seriously determined in US Congress by the bottom line costs. So the
"bully pulpit" was used to manipulate the bottom line costs much lower so it was more acceptable.
So I think now is the time for the Coalition to get paid for expenses.
The US recovering expenses is more complicated than a country like Poland. IMHO, Poland is a business dynamo waiting to happen. and Polands ROI will a big bang.
Whereas the US ROI will be in a long term favorable business/job/ education/ US vacations environment in the middle east.

and democracys never become involved in a killing war among themselves

I heard this too. Looks like it's going to be a boom day for Wall Street as well.

Interesting points of view on this topic. All I can say for sure: there is one less murderous ********* creeping around the planet!

I am glad we got the guy but not sure it will stop much of the attacks on our troops or against americans. By the looks of it, Saddam hasnt been in command of anyone lately. It seems like we have a lot of angry Iraqis who are more interested in getting us out of there than care about what happens to Saddam. I hope this capture helps, will have to wait and see.
