golf anyone?
I am slated to play my first round of the year either today or tomorrow, or both:) Even got a new set of irons (Hogan CFT's). Those of you not from the north won't understand what a big deal this is. Your first round signifies that winter is over! Supposed to be 65+ today:) Happy days are here again!

I am still waiting for my golf season to begin. We have had some nice days in the past month, but not on the weekends, which is when I play. I am so tired of hitting balls off fake grass. Get out there and hit the heck out of those new clubs!
|
Just bought another 64 degree wedge. Won the club championship (with handicap) last year with the other one. Look out now!
|
I just took up golf 6 months ago. My 13 year old son loves it so we play once a week. I hit the ball real long, but man I stink at this game. Still having fun though.

I'm waiting another 20 years or so to start.....I know I'll get addicted and I don't have enough time as it is.

I knew there was a reason I moved to Vegas....GOLF...yeah thats it...365/12..that how often you can play here.
I really don't play Golf, but I do like chasing the little white ball around the course all day..It shouldn't be how few times you have to hit the ball but how many and I get my monies worth. I once was thrown outa Pebble Beach, they asked me what all the camping gear was for? I said the way I play I'm gona be here for awhile...anyway Anyway I love to buy clubs..each time I buy one I think this is gona be the one thats gona make me great...so far I just havn't found the right one. The first set of clubs I bought were the Callaway Tungsten Titanium Big Berthas (graphite) with the Titanium Big Bertha woods in 11*, 3,5,7 (graphite). For a Putter I bought the Titlest Scotty Cameron Newport. Then I bought a set of Ping Eye3's Oversized (graphite), next was a set of Ben Hogan Edge cavity backs (used) then a set of Ben Hogan Blades (used) and finially a set of Ping Eye 2 Berylium Coppers (used). In between I bought a Titelist 975D Driver in 9.5* a 13* and 18* wood. Also I have Cleveland wedges in 53* and 58* in BECU and a 60* in NI. It's really tough trying to find a Caddy whose willing to haul all these clubs around the course for me.... |

What's in my bag:
Callaway VFT 11 degree driver standard flex Callaway Steelhead 3 wood standard flex Callaway Steelhead 3-PW, SW and LW graphite standard flex Odyssey Two-ball putter, but I kinda like my old school titleist bullseye better Callaway bag Callaway balls Callaway hat ...I guess I like Callaway. :) |
I went down to visit the Callway Headquarters near San Diego, for a club fitting.... It's basically all hype. I can see fitting a set of clubs for your size, but this new and improved club that they introduce every 6 months is just to keep club sales going...or why else would anyone trade in a perfectly good "yesterdays new and improved" set of clubs.
Now if you ask me Callaway Golf is designed for the ocasional or weekend player. They make nice shiney clubs that are designed to be as forgiving as possible...but they are always coming out with that new club that is going to turn your game around and make you great. They are the Hypemeisters... The one thang that I found completely laughable when visiting Callaway..is that they make you sign a non disclousure agreement, that if you should happen to see anything thats well new and not yet for sale that you can't tell about it. As if theres anything new under the sun in Golf... |
TaylorMade 580 Driver, 3 and 5 woods. Graphite. Stiff shaft. ;)
TaylorMade #3 rescue club. Titleist OS822 irons. Titleist Volkey sand and lob wedges. Ancient Zebra mallet putter. These clubs are no explanation for my poor game. |

I had a set of custom Penicks made for me a few years ago and it made a world of difference. I'm 6'5" and having the kickpoint dialed in on the shaft and the perimeter weighting tailored to my swing was night-and-day. The problem is, I can't blame the clubs any more, it's all my fault that I suck. JP |
My clubs are x-14's, which I bought two seasons ago. I am very short, so I had them custom fitted. For me, this was almost mandatory. As far as new clubs every six months or year, I agree that it is not necessary to get new clubs every time new and "improved" clubs come out. Every person that I have talked to that is knowledgeable about golf has said the x-14 is still one of the best clubs produced by Callaway, so there is no reason to get new clubs.
