I wouldn't think that that material would be in the public domain.

Here is the story behind those A-10 pictures. Pretty impressive piloting.

Has anyone got a copy of the pic of a B-52 which was being used for research (in the early 60s I think) looking in thunderheads for wind shear..and found enough to rip off about 80% of the vertical stabilizer? If memory serves, I saw it in Popular Mechanics.

This B-17 and a B-24 have been flying over all weekend. The 24 took off and flew at tree top level right over my house maybe 100 ft off the ground, I could almost read the writing on the bombay door.

What did the writing say?
"If you can read this you are on the wrong side." Good shot Steve. I get all choked up every time I see one fly over.

I FLEW ON THAT B-24!
that b-24 is the only one flying. my grandfather (former pilot, shot down in germany) helped restore it. When he died they flew it from the base in connecticut, forget the name of it but we drove over the newport bridge to get there, and we flew over my grandparents house on coast of 1A near bonnet shoes -narragansett. the flight was incredible. lost my hat out machine gun door (long story). read about b-24 here: http://www.collingsfoundation.org/tour_b-24j.htm the planes are at: (4/27/4) Signature Flight Support 19301 Campus Drive Santa Ana, CA 92707 GO FOR A RIDE! I had to divert to Burbank tonight because of the gear collapse of the B-17 at VNY. The right gear had collapsed from what I could see as I went over it on the way to BUR. It was a polished one with red flash on the tail.
Hope it didn't do too much damage. Big fire at Grand Canyon tonight too. Was between the airport and the town, burning towards the rim. From FL430, could see the flames even in the bright sun.
