ahhh yes the USS Alabama in Mobile. Have stayed on that ship many nights as a Boy Scout. Great place for capture the flag!

There were several planes that they had in the hanger that were damaged by Katrina. As far as I could tell, only the late model jets (F-14, F-16, & F-18) have been restored but there are a 5x that need some TLC, to include the P-51. The guide told me that they have the tail section in the shop for restoration, but with their extremely limited budget it could take another year or two before the P-51 is finished.
I have several other photos of planes that were damages; the catapult plane from the USS Alabama, an A-4 or A-6, F-86, to mention a few. If there is any interest I can reduce them down from 2.5M to something manageable for the site & load them.

Was the B-52 by the entrance way damaged?

Yep! The B-52 looked good on the outside, but I'm not sure if the a/c was flooded during Katrina.
