Cool thread. Most of my stuff is film, not digital, but I did just buy a scanner so . . . here some stuff on my desktop.
This actually is my desktop, taken in Japan http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1117772111.jpg My friend. This was shot during Christmas caroling, by candlelight, using TriX pushed to 1600ASA, f1.4 at 1/30. Only a few of the shots from that night turned out, but they have an interesting atmosphere. The crud is from scanning a dusty 8x10. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1117772895.jpg A girl in my daughter's class. This was a printing challenge. The hooded face was massively under-exposed and low-contrast relative to the white sweatshirt and reflective garbage bag-poncho. I had cut a paper mask the shape of the hooded face, expose the whole image for a short time using a high-contrast filter, place the mask over the face in the print, and expose the image again for a much longer time (16X as much light) using a low contrast filter, while wiggling the mask to avoid sharp lines. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1117772970.jpg |
I was in a meeting on the 40th floor of the Columbia Tower when the B-17 buzzed by twice. Cool. Those things look like porcupines with all the gun barrels sticking out. I pity the poor fools who got the job of trying to shoot them down. It must have ben like trying to shoot a sparkler.

jyl - that shot of the girl in the rain - excellent. Thanks for describing the darkroom tricks you used. Seems that's a lost art these days, with all the one-dimensional digital cameras out there....
Love the depth and the composition. -Z. |

Barn swallows have built a nest on my front porch. We have a new baby. I consider it a good omen.

Not exactly a random pic, but a Photoshop "solarized" version of my Sunflower Yellow '76 914 at the Streets of Willow racetrack in SoCal. Kinda grows on you and makes a decent wallpaper!
