Third time is a charm. Longer light streaks and a little more detail of the surrounding dark areas.

Very cool.

Hi Kurt,

Nice shot! It conveys forward motion and gives a feeling for the road as well.

Settings from tonight:
#1 ISO 200, s/20" @ f/29
#2 ISO 200, s/30" @ f/25

Todd,

You are an artist(musical) - no fair. All of your shots are outstanding. BTW, you left your g-string on the bed in the last pic.

Dave:

Do you use a handheld meter or in camera meter?

My Daughter and I made a series of these types of shots with a flashlight!

Kurt,

Cool, painting with light! Fun stuff. Ah, the crow, very smart, but very dull colored subject. BTW, you have a little "bokeh" going on in the background, nice.

Built in light meter. Funny thing though, my dad suggested that I shoot ISO 200,f/2x,s/20". When I setup, and first focused, the built in meter gave me the same reading for shutter, once I dialed in the f stop. I was in manual mode.

With a blue filer hand held in front of the lens. I made a mistake on the exposure time.

Don't tell that to the crow!

I guess your Dad may have shot a few pictures before?

Here's my last for the night - taken in Leucadia (while I was evacuated!) looking to the southeast as the Witch Creek Fire raged:

The last shot is nice as well. I remember seeing this and a few others on the fire thread. 18mm gives a nice wide angle. The street poles gives a nice tallness to the image even though it looks like you are hand holding, standing up? I have a filter that would have really brought out the sky/smoke.

As for my dad, I think he has been into photography for about about 45-50 years now...

Eh, here's his website. He rarely lets anyone know about it...

A little after sunset. At the beginning of Mulholland Dr. looking towards DT Los Angeles, the 101 freeway is in view as well.

Todd, I like the B&W switch shot. Maybe I'm a close-up dork, but it just works for me.
