Tsunamiboy - you're right! We spent about 2 days touring Gettysburg, the battlefield, and the newly opened visitor's center. Very cool trip!

there is a spec of dust and piece of lint between the viewfinder, and the focusing screen... I have double, triple checked, and cleaned... I know the focusing screens are replacable.... would any of you remove and clean these yourself? It looks like it just snaps in, and removes easily...

secondly, the photo I just posted I painted out any noise on a duplicate layer, after I cut the moon out... Is there noise in the image of the moon? id so how would one clean that up?

Should I make a thead more dedicated to photagraphy and techniques? or just use this thread

Not sure about your Pentax, but if it's like the D200 I used to have, there's a piece of glass the focusing screen lays up against. Cleaning dust out of the pentaprism would require having the camera opened up professionally- probably not worth it, but talk to a repair shop. My D200 was pretty rugged, and after thumping it a bunch of times, the dust cleared out.

I don't really see any noise in your moon shot, so I wouldn't worry about it. Photoshop has a noise removal tool under the filters tab. Otherwise, you can spend money on Noise Ninja or Neat Image, for example.

Took my camera to the local ma & pa camera shop to ask about cleaning the dust under the focusing screen. The owner cleaned it for free, and showed me how to do it on my own (the screen on the Pentax, flips down easily).

So I bought a few filters from them while I was there, uv,polarizing and gradient density.

Very cool! You learned something and got some new stuff and discovered that the entire population hasn't turned to poo.

I've seen a lot of the tiger/cat paw prints as tattoos these days, what the hell do they mean? Or is it just the latest fad? Those are nice, but that decision is going to see pretty silly when she's 30 or 40 or 50, but I guess there will be enough older people running around with ink by the time she's that age, that she won't be alone.
