To stick with the theme...

my broken remote. I opened an RMA Warranty claim with Logitech. They said they wanted a picture of the unit on or near a sheet of paper with my claim number written on the sheet. This is my close-up. I assume it's because they're going to send me a new remote and tell me to throw out the other one (not ship it back).

Flight in a B-17

Wings over Waukesha this past Saturday.
I took Dad, 81 yo WWII vet, to see the planes and watch the B-17 take off and land as they gave rides. The B-17 is owned by the EAA and goes out on tour each year. Every few years it stops here. Dad said let's go up so we did.

Your Dad was 16 years old when the war ended.

Dad turns 82 in another month, so that would have made him just 17. You could enlist early with parents signature from what I recall him saying. I saw his discharge papers years ago but never really paid attention to his entrance date if it was there. My sister would know if it's easily findable in his VA records since his original military records were part of those lost in a fire in St. Louis years ago and his own records are packed up in dissarray. I'll have to ask her.

Very cool! My great grandfather built the current church way back in the 30's. Now that I think about it that makes an interesting circle My great grandfather built that place, with my grandfather driving the delivery truck(at the ripe old age of 12)... who served in WWII either flying or recovering secrets from the bombers(maps, bomb sights, etc)... ohh and he was an EAA member for years if not decades.

To get to fly in something that old is really really special.

Edit: Obligitory picture of said grandfather a week before he died.
