Thanks Dave! These were taken in the village of Lauterbrunnen;about a 20 minute train ride up the mountains from Interlaken. We stayed just on the other side of the brown chalet in the first pic with a view outside our living room of the big waterfall you see in the background.
The shot with the stream was during our hike after leaving the village on our way to the Schilthorn (where On Her Majesty's Secret Service was partially filmed).

Most photoediting software (Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, etc...) has something called "curves" which is usually used along with "levels". The curves tool usually looks like this

or maybe like this

With the top picture type, you can adjust it to have a slight "S" shape which does an excellent job of adjusting contrast.

USM is a feature in Photoshop, unsharp mask. It does a great job of sharpening. I don't use it too much on my moon shots because it tends to add noise to the moon. I'm still pretty novice at using Photoshop to process my digital stuff.

I do take Mines Road once in awhile. I didn't have time today to do the whole loop. It was either the run I did today or do the La Honda/ Pescadero Road loop down to the ocean and back. Both good drives.
And to stay on topic....another pic. :D

i'm not really sure but i know it's used as a residence now. i believe there are 4 ccupants/families living b/c i saw 4 names/doorbells by the entrance.

the lower glass domed structure that's attached to the side is a kitchen. they were remodeling some time back and you could see what's inside. do all the residents share it? no idea. is there a staff that cooks/runs it for all of them? would be fun to find out.

maybe it's a co-op?

next time i go back i'll have to look up whether the building has a name carved on it somewhere, might help w/ looking up the history of the building. the location is amazing too. right smack downtown, middle of entire city.

If I remember correctly, it's on either Boylston or Newbury St., right off Boston Common (not far from the Bull Finch Pub)... right?

yep. forget which street that is but it's right on comm ave and one block down from mass ave. in first pic, newbury is right behind me. one day i gotta remember to look up more info.

even the architecture is intriguing. surrounding buildings don't look like that but many are just as old. wonder who lived there originally
