Dang water is too cold out there! Plus I broke off a fin on the rocks at C Street. Our water right now is in the mid-eighties. And yes we do get waves! I have to say though, California is a very cool place. One of my buddies has a sister who works for Carnival Cruise lines so we toured one of the moored boats at Long Beach while we were there. These are the 2 photographers at the wedding. They were very nice.... :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1469810436.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1469810547.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1469810609.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1469810766.jpg |

From Leo Carrillo State Beach. There is supposed to be some cave/grotto there, but we have yet to be able to find it! Seems it's being kept a secret.

Oh, scouting locations in advance, depending on terrain is a good idea assuming there is little data on the area and you don't to die falling off a cliff... We use white flashlights for getting to the location red once there (does not ruin night vision). Be safe, know your surroundings! |

You guys all post such beautiful pictures, I really like those trout and stream pictures with the mountains in the background - in Montana I believe?
These pictures are of the area between my old neighborhood and my grandmother's old house. This thread just needs a little Motown flavor to spice it up.;) The old Dix Ave. bridge which goes over the Rouge River...................still in working order http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145037.jpg They still put the water hose out to help control the expanding metal grate in the summer months. You can see the once upon a time world's largest industrial complex, the Ford Rouge Plant in the background. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145109.jpg Crappy cell phone pictures, I tried to lighten it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145246.jpg Considered one of Metro Detroit's most famous icons from the past, still afloat, the St. Claire one of the last surviving Boblo Island boats - there were two. This one sits right off the bridge on grandmother's side of the river. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145303.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145479.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145514.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145530.jpg |
A few more urban character pictures from the area.
A nearby junkyard. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145798.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145832.jpg Another yard, posted this same car several years ago, actually in city of Melvindale less than a mile away from the bridge. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145921.jpg And a couple more miles away on the other side of the river near Patton Park (Det), a neighborhood party store still manages to survive. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470145994.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1470146011.jpg Home sweet home. |
