The old Texaco station, Post Office and general store in Ottine, Texas about 1973. We were camping at Palmetto State Park next door and dropped in for some supplies.

This emerged from the snowbank at the end of my street during the melt from the recent Seattle snows... I cannot imagine how it came to be there.

Interesting book. I know very little about the author but have seen his stuff at the Margaret Herrick Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Some mucky muck brought me in there to snoop around. Interesting place that's for sure

Yeah....Mr. Kingman is considered to be one of the best ever in watercolors.

What caught my eye was his truly magnificent work as the illustrator for the title sequences of the 1963 classic "55 Days At Peking"....

(shown in this video between the 3 and 6 minute marks)

In my back yard right now.

Happened to look out and see this bob cat walking across the front portico slab. It went into the back yard and made itself comfortable.

Wow.....really nice pics, Marv. How cool was that?

==========

I'm building a 20' section of fence for a client - with a 64" gate. Installed the posts today. I usually like using the pre-fab sections but when you have a slope you have to build it picket by picket. 20' won't be a big deal though - only 40-some pickets......

I took maybe a dozen pictures - telephoto from bedroom windows. Really healthy, muscular, pretty cat.

My most memorable encounter with good old Bob was about 8 years ago-
My Son and I went up a local mtn road to do some back country skiing and had a Bobcat walk right in front of the truck, went up a steep snow covered bank a few feet and sat down to watch us as I pulled up next to him.
Very impressive animals, when he decided we didn't have anything worth his time he turned and went almost straight up and disappeared.

obligatory random carb photo

Ps... I just noticed one of the case bolts appears in a rather unflattering spot- oh well

After dinner tonight at Mom's I had her take her car out for a spin around the block. Two laps! First time for her since she fell and hurt her back last November. She just turned 96 last Tuesday.....

She actually did pretty good!
