Wow! I don't remember when I last saw one of those blade sharpener/strops. I had to think a second to remember what it was. Thanks for the reminder.

Found in our work hangar.. it was already expired, so no Mothras were injured in the taking of this picture.

I’ve always wondered what it would be like to shave with one of those. I would probably cut the **** out of my face if I tried it.

Having never seen one before, except my dads, I did a search on eBay and you can get them for 10 - 50 bucks. They must have made millions of them?

Planned an overnight Kayak trip to Diablo, there's a first come first serve permitting system there... Ranger station in Marblemount said nope, all three boat in site permits are already issued for tonight.
Rats.
I knew it was risky, early August, perfect weather after a midweek rain and high temps clear into the low 80's.
Ahh well, backtrack 8 miles and then an additional 15 to Baker Lake as a back up.

It was packed with people too, boat in campsites on the East side were already inhabited... snagged the last car camping site up off Park Creek- a bit better than half way up the lake.
Windy so I left the Yak on the truck till morning., then it was perfect for a 3 hour Yak ensconced tour!

Only 2 mosquito bites also, I hate mozzys!

Full astern Capt'n, we seem to have hit an island

The Mt. Baker, accept no substitutes.

Mt Shuksan, where the "Mt. Baker Ski area" is

Nice shots Bugs!
So many more places around here to explore!

The mighty Snohomish river is only 20 minutes away and has miles of sloughs and tributary's - tidally impacted, so you need to be aware of what its up to.

Diablo was my intended target-

One of the trips there in 2019, went up with a BIL in my trusty old 15' Coleman canoe, he had to use the electric trolling motor to keep up, good fun even as a day trip.
Flat water is soooo sublime:

Thank you for posting so many pics. It's great to live vicariously through them. I fell in love with the Area when I was there in, I think April of 2000. I took the wife to the Area in, I think, 2018. She fell in love too.

Absolutely!
Glad some peeps enjoy them, I'm obviously addicted to photography and the great outdoors, I'm a VERY fortunate man to keep on keepin on at this juncture!

My Pops could create art in seemingly endless forms, pencil, oil, watercolor, amazing leather tooling abilities and he was also a good photographer...

I got NONE of that ability other than pointing a camera more or less OK sometimes...
And I love reliving memories in that format.

2020 Pandemic trip with my Son and the 15' flotilla of mahogany and plastic vessels, his first time in the Pygmy Kayak... he took to it very quickly and was pretty excited about how efficient it is to paddle.
Me too.
