^Yikes Byron!!^
Time for Sir Lancelot? Weekend visit to LA area to see our Son, His GF and our Grand dogs. Saturday morning we got in a nice walk up Eaton Canyon to a couple sets of falls, there was even snow up in the hills, Mt Baldy was covered. Seemed strange to see that in SoCal. We came back to Pasadena to meander around downtown and happened on a celebration with live music and dance- very fun and very welcoming peeps. Sunday was lots of great family time. Aaron had to go to work Monday and since our flight back home was later in the day we walked about 6 miles on Crystal Cove beaches and on down to Laguna Beach. Pretty cool weather meant very few others out on the beach- just the way we like it! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712882839.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712882839.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712882839.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712882839.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712882839.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712882839.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712882839.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712882839.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712882839.jpg |

Then came the follow up with my doctor, who noticed that it is movable now (since I was feeling miserable and missing events I had set up for Saturday, plus my new washing machine was delivered the day this started, I took a couple of pain pills and moved out the old washer and installed the new, including lifting it on the pedestal) after I did that the next day the mass was movable. This time, the doctor cut it open to drain it, but she said again, that the mass is solid and didn't want to cut any deeper because of my spine. So then she ordered a Cat Scan and also informed me that it would have to be surgically removed and she took a culture. Today was the follow up, again, like the ultrasound, all it shows is a solid mass, and no one has been able to figure out what it is and how it grew so big so quickly  Still don't have the results from the culture, and the surgeon can't see me until the 23rd. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712887294.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712887294.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712887294.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712887294.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712887294.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712887294.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712887294.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712887294.jpg |
Byron, here's hoping they can get you in and taken care of sooner than that!!
Next project, 1985 Honda XR350R case replacement. This used to be my dirt bike, I bought it slightly used in 1986, as my son grew he ended up with it and I bought an XR400 so I could keep up with him. He took it with him down to LA and has been riding it up in the desert... it's a tank and has always fired right up and worked perfectly (good maintenance pays off). About 2 months ago I got a call "Dad, I've got bad news" He was changing oil on it and apparently had not replaced the copper sealing washer the time before, so the drain plug was stubborn. He tapped the socket wrench with a hammer and broke the side case. Shipoopy. I sourced a used case half and full gasket set, he pulled the motor and shipped it up to me. This will be interesting, pretty much complete disassembly to replace it- There's no doubt going to be lots of "while you are in there" rebuilding. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712944919.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712944919.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1712944919.jpg |

Daughter was home for a friends wedding. She loves to mow...which I, as a loving parent support:cool:
She wrapped for the pollen with headphones, and, I might add, is a wizard at this: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713811518.jpg |
Mowing can have a certain Zen quality and instant feeling of accomplishment, you are a good Poppa for letting her soak that up:D.
The pollen has been crazy thick here too. Left over N95's help me avoid the allergens. My eyeballs take he brunt, guess it's time for goggles too. Had a BIL here for a 10 day visit, he's been living in Thailand for decades now, married a Thai and has a 10 year old daughter. America is kind of a culture shock for him even though he was born, raised and educated in the US. Interesting to hear his perspective on how different thing are here now. Got him out to some favorite stopping grounds, my first time seeing the Oso slide memorial now completed. It's stunning and very well designed and built IMHO http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713972985.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713972985.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713972985.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713972985.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713972985.jpg Big metal sculptures memorializing families, couples and individuals were very impactful for me- the site is only about a half hour away from home. I still remember the sounds of Blackhawk heli's bringing remains to the Arlington airport blocks away from where I live that went on for 4 months afterward. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713972985.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713972985.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713972985.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713972985.jpg |
Also took him up to the closest mountain access road. Mt. Loop highway had just partially opened the day we went up to Big Four Ice caves- still a month or so before caves start forming.
Tons of avi run out fill the cirque and surprisingly we did not hear or witness any releases. Stayed well back from the 4K' face that spits rocks and snow down hill periodically. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713973963.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713973963.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713973963.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713973963.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713973963.jpg Walked down to Granite Falls too, it's full and ripping with spring runoff http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713973963.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713973963.jpg |

^Nice work^
Alaska late June 2019 Our one and only cruise, the small ship was great for getting way back in the fjords, not so good out in open water. Should have started the motion sickness meds sooner, live, throw up and learn. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714185843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714185843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714185843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714185843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714185843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714185843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714185843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714185843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1714185843.jpg |
