Many places I love to take it do not have the best launch or landings.
I feel it was meant to be used, refinished as needed rinse and repeat.
I do try to be gentle, use docks where possible and it doesn't get drug over rocks- rather picked up and as gently as possible set down on as much sand or a couple sticks for cushioning.

It's been a fun filled return on $500 investment, plus buying a decent sander, sandpaper, replacement bungee cords, deck hatch seals and the Pettit finish is not cheap.

She's a joy to paddle, great straight line stability and according to my GPS I can keep her going at 5MPH for pretty long periods (flat water and no wind of course).

Wow! Just wow!! Talk about a functional piece of art.

How durable are those? We only have experience with the glass and plastic boats. We always are careful, but stuff happens. I would be afraid of doing some type of damage. Yes, I know that those type of boats have been in play much longer, but it still makes me wonder.

Beautiful looking boat.

Great photos being posted, the underwater world has such vivid colors and alien looking creatures and flora, surreal-

Byron-
Very cool to have lifelong friends!
We moved around a lot in my younger years, I'm lucky to have one best buddy I've adventured and laughed with since 9th grade.
Something we were able to do differently, our Son was born, raised and self ejected from the same house, still has people he knew in preschool around here.

Thanks Bugs!
I'm happy I bought the used Pygmy (that sounds bad) and as far as durability, 23 years and no cracks, weak spots or hole punched in it thank goodness.
Seems like it was engineered very well and strengthened with over lapping sections inside as needed.
My worst fear is dropping it or running it into a rock hard enough to turn it into damaged art that won't float.
It's slippery when wet, I keep a huge towel in the truck to protect the top of the truck and Yak while loading- I also have learned to dry it off or ask for an extra when loading it.

I've had a 15' Coleman Canoe for many years, it's just not as much fun as the Yak but crazy durable and good workhorse-
This was 2019, loaded up my flotilla and took a BIL out for a paddle- he had to use the electric motor set at about 3 of 5 to keep up

Had to bring the chickens into the shed row...you can see the purple clouds in the background.

Coop has crank up/down wheels behind it. I love the chickens!

Got in a nice day trip over to Whidbey Island, it's 55 miles long and only about an hour away and a favorite destination most anytime of year.

At about the halfway point on the West side is a spot named Ebey's Landing.
It was the first non native establishment and thrived at the time.

The only indication of it's former life is a huge old abandoned road house that put up travelers back in the 1850's.
It's now a National Historical Reserve with a fantastic loop trail that climbs the bluff for nice views out towards the Peninsula and then descends to the beach- best timed for at low tide for plenty-O-beach. That day had a small minus tide, just right!

Weather was supposed to clear but the marine layer was persistent until we were on our way home. Nice respite from the blazing 80 degree weather we have been enjoying.

Quick pawn shop flip. Cleaned up nicely. Took a while to get it working properly, dirty pots. Sold the amp already. Didn't even have it for 6 hours. Facebook market place, can't complain.

I don't often go do the "touristy" stuff but my Sister suggested a Whale watching boat trip out of Anacortes and through some of the San Juan islands almost into Canadian waters.

Captain found a pod of about a dozen Biggs Orcas almost up at the Northern tip of San Juan island that he slowly approached, cut the engines and they cut right in front of the boat 50-60 yards away.
Mom with her youngest were in perfect sync, the rest usually surfaced not too long afterward. Very cool!
The boat was a big twin hull that cruised at about 25 knots and got right up to speed quick.
