Early morning drive yesterday for a camping permit on Diablo.
They have a lottery to issue permits in spring, 60% of the campsites are filled that way, they keep 40% for "walk ups" that's how you get a permit for the same day or the next night of camping. I scored my favorite boat in site for Thursday, great views from the top of a couple outcrops within 15 minutes of camp. Weather looks clear and the Perseid's Meteor shower is underway. Hoping for some good captures with the GP 12 I got a couple weeks ago. Stopped at a derelict mill and pond site along the way just off the main river channel and saw a splash and long tail slip underwater. A couple Otter have taken up residence and have a den tucked away from the main trail. They both watched me a while as I worked my way closer, then I stood quietly for a couple minutes and did my best otter chirping impression. Just as I hoped they were curious enough to come up pretty close to see what the heck I was. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721317352.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721317352.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721317352.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721317352.jpg Drove the 911, it ran superb!! 5:30 am run on highway 530 was nearly empty, just the way I prefer. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721317352.jpg Right to left view points of the GP suction cup mounted to the head light. Did some hyperwarp video from the drivers side headlight and a spot just behind the driver's door looking forward- I'm still processing the footage from that. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721317352.JPG |

Stopped by to visit my Grandmother and Great aunt today.
While there, I got a few pictures of the newest neighbor and one of the other neighbors. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721607158.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721607158.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721607158.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721607158.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721607158.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721607158.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721607158.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721607243.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721607243.jpg |

Yup, all that crap fits into the 2 storage compartments no problem, including my 3.5" thick extra long and wide REI Camp bed inflatable mattress... everything I take kayaking or backpacking has been replaced with lighter better options than what I had back in the 80's.
Except the sleeping pad, it's gotten progressively thicker and heavier- sacrifices must be made as we age for comfort's sake http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721663685.jpg Sun set right on top of Devils peak from my perspective. There's a fantastic vantage point from a prominent chunk of mountainside just a 5 minute walk from camp. With the Perseids bouncing off the atmosphere currently I slept from about 9:30 pm until 11:30 and then wandered back up to the view point for about 90 minutes. None spotted during that time period but the GoPro caught at least one or two. Wildfire smoke hampered the views, North Cascades hiway was closed due to fire less than 20 miles east of Diablo http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721663685.jpg Pyramid Peak and the tip of Paul Bunyan's stump- morning view http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721663685.jpg Same, evening view http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721663685.jpg Iphone struggles to capture night photos, turns out kinda artsy http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721663685.jpg GoPro 12 does wonders! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721663685.JPG Monkey Island had the winds something fierce http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721663685.jpg Quick stop on the way home at Fortson's Mill to see if I could spot the otters... no dice! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1721663685.jpg |

Ours has been there since January and have been told November at best to see its return. Don’t buy EV or Hybrids folks. Dealers just give two craps if you do t have a vehicle and will not provide a loaner or rental. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
^That's a hell of a way to treat a customer and sure fire way to loose one^
At least you can go sit in it, or take it out for a tow... Seriously, that's ridiculous, how long have you been waiting? These are new cars? According to my extensive records the last time I refinished my yak was May 2019, I'm getting close to redoing it again http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1722007146.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1722007146.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1722007146.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1722007146.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1722007146.JPG |

15' Pygmy Goldeneye- 2001 build I believe, 2nd hand purchase of a $1000. boat kit that was already assembled and in the way out in a garage for a decade or so in Kirkland area.
One of the first companies to use CAD/CAM programs that cut mahogany in mostly perfectly aligned grain wise panels with lots of holes to match up and wire, glue it, remove wire ties and patch a few hundred little holes. John Lockwood, designer/engineer was the driving force, the company didn't survive Covid- John was in the process of selling when that happened and he has not made any other attempts as far as I know. Sucks because I'd love to build my own and choose a model with just little more foot room in the shell. http://pygmyboats.net/ This one works with minimalist water shoes just fine. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1722038305.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1722038305.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1722038305.jpg |
