I am, at least by some estimations. But when you see moderators doing background searches (or saying thay are) on members that they have differences of opinions with, well that's a little much for me.

P.S. Why does anyone care that an "off-topic" portion of a Porsche forum is "members only"????

It wasn't done, IMHO, to get rid of any political viewpoints. I think it was done to encourage people to register. Pelican is great, but it has a wonderful business generating revenue to fund the forums here. Rennlist has some sponsors, but basically survives on the generosity of members...ala P.B.S.

Let's all just get along and have fun owning great cars, m'kay?

Non members still get all the free tech info and search functions, I dont see an issue with the OT becoming members only. And I get 200mb of webspace w unlimited bandwidth...not a bad deal personally. YMMVYDW (your mileage may vary ya damn whiners..)

On the OT area being members only on Rennlist.

I think it has more to do with people having multiple screen names popping back up after they are kicked out or just to argue under an alias. IIRC there were a bunch of posts by a few people that kept re-registering.

Rennlist gang - Remember "The Godfather"? People like that could easily justify making the OT area "members only"

Actually - Red is studying for a C++ certification - With work and school he doesn't have time for Rennlist.

As a matter of fact - I still have a whole bunch of parts at his house that need to go on Ebay?. (928 Parts that is - from my 85 Track Shark)

Pelican is great for pre-964. Rennlist is great for the 964 and up. Both offer great information for their respective models and both have knowledgeable moderators and contributors.

I believe the anti-american left wing voice on Rennlist is due to it having a more global user base.

Actually C++ is now over as I wait for C# and Java to start.
I spent more time making a game mod and hacking in the last 6 weeks then the time I spent in C++ class and still got a 97% for a final grade.

Man I forgot how much fun form hacking can be.

So where are those grid girls?

As far as Rennlist, perhaps if they DID get some corporate sponsors, the problem would be solved. I was among the first 75 people on Rennlist and I left about a year ago. Why? The fact they were (not the management, some of the members) getting downright nasty if you were NOT a paying member. I don't mind paying a few bucks, but I do object about being singled out if I do not wish to contribute.

Being a free country, I came to Pelican. Very happy. Do not miss Rennlist.
