Rennlist Refugees

I have just come over here from the rennlist board. It seems as though they are making major changes to be more politically correct. Aparently many of the left wing weenies were getting their feelings hurt. Any other rennlist refugees out here?

juanbenae 07-21-2004 11:30 AM

im a never was guy. i will visit there once in a while but they are more of a 993/996 crowd.

i see it this way,,

earlys board for early cars

pelican earlycars and mid year 911 influenced

rennlist pretty boy waterc pumpers and 993s

Rennlist is like the song by the steve miller band "Come on give me the money and run"

Right, but the General Q & A section is now at risk of being the new O.T. section (just read the topics). Seems like there is still a demand for personal expression beyond P-cars.

thrown_hammer 07-21-2004 12:23 PM

What is this rennlist you speak of?..........;)

84porsche 07-21-2004 03:34 PM

I actually registered their first and then I saw all the fun happening over here so I joined a few months later. Right in time for the New Years Day Run in So Cal.

BlueSkyJaunte 07-21-2004 04:00 PM

All hail our benevolent dictator King Wayne!

What we really need is a big wall, a barrier, to separate us from the refugees of a fallen land.

I don't see what the big deal is, maybe you care to tell me?

There is always roadfly.SmileWavy

djmcmath 07-21-2004 05:01 PM

Of course, if we built a wall, and it worked, the UN would probably just tell us to tear it down. (sigh)

nostatic 07-21-2004 05:04 PM

then Reagan would take credit for tearing it down...

hey, couldn't let politics escape fully

Icemaster 07-21-2004 05:22 PM

See? There you go again. Politicize the conversation once again.......

The haves vs. have nots

:D

kmhemi 07-21-2004 06:41 PM

I came over from Rlist...I like the people here better. I actually get answers to my questions from people who "work" on their cars. Not to slam rennlist but I have not gotten any help form the tech area.

motion 07-21-2004 07:16 PM

For sure, folks here have a lot more, uh, 'personality' than over on Rennlist. The 993 crowd is definitely older, more refined, less greasy. Unfortunately, they've developed a clique called HWFMR. People are falling all over themselves to be a member. Personally, I'm not a 'joiner' and the whole thing is rather irritating. I'm feeling ostracized by not thinking of some lame-a$$ title to join with, like "Official ******* Patrol Director" or "Official 993 Biker From Hell" or something along those lines.

Plus, not really any tit$ and a$$ happening over there.

That being said, they are a great group of people and there is plenty of helping and fellowship goin' on.

nostatic 07-21-2004 07:18 PM

what the hell does HWFMR stand for?

More SCWDP envy...

motion 07-21-2004 07:30 PM

Hey, Wait For Me Racing

djmcmath 07-21-2004 08:00 PM

Are you serious? What does that mean?

motion 07-21-2004 08:25 PM

I guess some way of belonging to a bad-a$$ Porsche racing group without actually being a racer. I dunno, maybe some of them are actually racers. But let's not forget the demographic of your average '98 993 C2S Arena Red with 20k miles on the clock and $3000 wheels owner.

TheStig 07-21-2004 08:29 PM

Help! I'm seekin asylum from lefties as a republican and EX-Grid Girl poster! Therefore, I"m coming here and helping the 944 and 928 guys with whatever I can!

Andy

kmhemi 07-21-2004 08:32 PM

The thing that I like best about pelican is that if i buy a part and have problems, I can post the question and have the answer right away. but I sure do miss that grid girls post....

TheStig 07-21-2004 08:35 PM

KMhemi, check the OT Forum, the Grid Girls want Revenge! :D

Andy

Schuey 07-22-2004 09:25 AM

Rennlist is and will always be a valuable place for Porsche owners, this is why I pony up my money each year and become a member...buy a membership and post all you want in the OT field...

jm951 07-22-2004 09:31 AM

Andy- are you going to use the "porsche king" in the sig again? I really get a kick out of that. BTW- I'm a member on both.

Overpaid Slacker 07-22-2004 09:59 AM

Pathetic. I mean, really, truly pitiful. Did they add all the sparkles w/ photoshop?

Back to the point -- Rlist can send us their huddled masses yearning to be free; as well as their dentists driving 986s with titanium shift knobs that want to learn something useful about their garage resident and perhaps develop an interest in real Porsches. :D

}{arlequin 07-22-2004 10:04 AM

Rennlist.... what do you expect? Their avatars take up more space than the TECHNICAL replies....

Ahh--Internet lore. The Icy Hot Stuntaz were/are real. They put up a Geocities web site about three years ago for their car club. That photo was on the front page, but there were many others of the various "Stuntaz" posing with their blingen' ridez and Wal-mart jewelry. The link quickly made the rounds on the various car forums and the host pulled it down. Fortunately many people had archived all the content, so mirror and parody versions popped up all over.

widebody911 07-22-2004 11:11 AM

Icy Hot, Ben Gay - it's all the same...

Mule 07-22-2004 11:37 AM

Schuey, Rennlist is great if you need a question anwered on your car. Off topic is infested with a bunch of anti-American left wing nut jobs (including moderators) whose hate for America overshadows everything else. Apparently too many Anti-American types where getting their feelings hurt and they pulled the plug. I fail to realize why someone would pay to argue with those niwits.

Eric 951 07-22-2004 12:04 PM

Rennlist is great.
Pelican is great.

John D used to run the forums here for Wayne before he started Rennlist--and they are friends.

I never understood the bashing on either side:rolleyes:

}{arlequin 07-22-2004 12:11 PM

It's more of a friendly ribbing and a "tastes-great-less-filling" kind of competition rather than bashing.

2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. Both are great, no need to bash rennlist. If you guys who ditched rennlist because the OT sucked would work on your cars a little more instead of sitting in front of the computer and bickering on the OT forum you'd get a lot more out of both rennlist and this forum.

I'm going to finally have to check out Rennlist. On the off-chance that you are right wing reactionary prick, the above could be a ringing endorsement. :)

mattdavis11 07-22-2004 12:25 PM

Bring the Grid girls over here Stig, do it for RedUFO! No need to be bitter man, roll with it, no biggie.
