"The Family" by Kitty Kelley - CNN newsman calls it "gossip"
Did any of you see Aaron Brown rip Kitty a new one on "NewsNight?" He basically called the book "gossip" as he found she had nothing to back up her allegations of GW's drug use or spousal abuse.
How embarrassing. He simply took her apart. Hmmm...a female Dan Rather, perhaps? Or again, as is well known in publishing, controversy sells books whether right or wrong.

but shouldn't the "liberal media bias" have turned it into a lovefest instead?

But Brown's more a true journalist (print lover) than TV idealogue.

Chris Matthews had her on for HALF AN HOUR of his hourlong Hardball show last night. Thank goodness for Tivo - Fast Forward is cool.

I frankly can't believe gaijinda has been watching the Today Show for THREE days now! WTF, Bill?
She's a smear artist, and the story about her story detailing W's alleged cocaine use at Camp David makes Dan Rather look credible. JP

I particularly enjoyed her answer to the allegations of spousal abuse; that the Bush family threatened Laura, etc. When asked by Brown from where Kelley received this evidence, she only said "witnesses that wished to not be identified."
Who? Ann Richards? Al Gore? Yoda? Who?

uhh, i watched the whole interiew with her and it he was not ripping her apart. He compared the bush's to the Kennedy's and Baldwin types, with the underlying concept that these people have no consequences for their actions. That plants the idea that bush did things that were wrong and hasn't faced the consequences, which you lefties would agree with.
At the very end he read a passage, which were a set of events and time periods, but without direct connections... "air force enacts drug testing... then bush went awol... 6 months later he's back on the records". She even admitted that she put those out there without stating the conclusions she wants the reader to draw. Why would you indirectly do that unless you had no foundation? If she had the facts and real dirt, she could say specifically what she wanted to, and maybe even have credibility (hah!). She cites 'anonymous sources' all the time. Hey, i'm anonymous source, i saw al gore humping a goat during his trip through Nebraska.

Hey Bryan: yes, he ripped her a new one - he ripped the book apart meaning that he took almost every aspect of it and ascertained that her claims were unfounded - hence ripped her apart.
Nothing but tabloid crap, Bryan. As for "anonymous sources," I guess you'll be first to spend $30 on rubbish you can just as easily find in the National Enquirer. Good choice... No nonfiction writer worth their ink let's the reader "come to their own conclusion." That shows that either the writer didn't know the subject matter, had poor information, or was just lazy. As the writer, one have to conclude issues for the reader, or else, why would the reader bother to pick up the book? None of what Kelley cited was concluded according to Brown. None of it was backed up factually. Accusing someone of drug addiction and spousal abuse, whether they are or are not the president, has strong implications. And all she can provide are anonymous sources? Would that hold up in a court of law? No. And Brown knew so, hence he called her on it and ripped her apart, damaging her credibility as a writer.

You're assuming she had any credibility to start with.
