dd74 - enema or enigma? Obama has the marketing sticky-ness, yet is predicted to fizzle like LA Gear.

Cool - interesting that you think Bush could motivate a large group to the point they would give their lives, kill themselves for their cause. If that is the case, we just may have one of the most influencal men of the past thosand years. No, I don't think so. Bush and the rebulican party merely represents a stand point that acts as a neucleation site. The reaction started way before. I like him (and the Republican party) becuase babies deserve to be born, men should carry guns and if yiu want health care benefits - get a freakin job and pay into it.
There comes a time when the strong must act.

Don't they swear an oath and have to take orders? Janitors have to clean urnals but it doesn't mean they like it.

I don't know what you are talking about.

tidy bowl in the nostrels v. C4 across your chest (dedicated v. commited) - these poor &*&#$ are commited. That sort of deal takes centuries to manifest. Does anyone really think they are going to go away? These people hate us for what we represent but also becuase of what we have and what we believe and lastly what they believe. Lets face facts - most all extraordinary things are achieved by one for four reasons: greed, guilt, ego or luck. I'll let figuer out which cat their extraordinary actions fall into.

MikeCT: UCONN Mens B-ball looking any good this year? Left CT in 86, back then the NIT was a dream.

MikeCT 11-03-2004 10:32 PM

sorry I'm not really into basketball so i wouldn't know.

To actually add to this discusion, I think that the hate stems from years of propaganda and the US not acting much different than what the propaganda preaches(sp?) (at least in their view). But the same could be said about Americans being told that these people "hate our way of life".

M.D. Holloway 11-03-2004 10:53 PM

Not all hate us - just the far religious right who are well eduacated but desire a much greater calling. These terrorists are not stupid sheep, but rather intellegent fundamentalists who feel that the US is jeopordizing their theology. Couple that with guilt and ego, sprinkle in some time tested marketing techneques and you have your selves the makings for a breathing, thinking time bomb. Keep in mind, Nazi Germany was the best educated in all of Europe, same as the Surbs and even the Iraqies and Iranians.

MikeCT 11-03-2004 10:58 PM

I agree and I don't ever think that it couldn't happen here. If everyone was to keep their mouth shut like they did in Germany that is.

M.D. Holloway 11-03-2004 11:19 PM

tough to complain when you are given structure and promise along with a wage. Only 15% were Nazi - must all others did feel resentment for the rest of the region. Many didn't know what was going on, the ones that looked the other way did so in order to survive not becuase they were complascent. Different times, different culture, media was way to the right and very controlled.

Coolie U should not speak ill of Pakistan...Mushareef has had 2 assination attempts against his life this year for supporting the US. He has had t go against his own Intellignece forces...and he is between a rock and a hard place...

If you know anything about Afgan/ Pakistan you would know that Wazristan has ALWAYS been tribal and an especially lawless place. No government has EVER controled that region...and there really is no border up there...

The central dynamic about Afganistan is that it has always been controled by warlords, who have had a nonimal King. Afgans are noted for fighting among themselves until they are invaded then they all band together to expel the invader and once that is done they happily go back to fighting among themselves.

Thus the way the Bush Administraation handled the elimination of the Taliban was masterfull...We had less than 200 Special Forces on the ground backed by airpower, in alliance with the Northern Alliance. What Bin Laden thought was that the US was going to put a large number of ground troops in Afgan and he would summmon his old Muhadjean forces to defeat the US like they defeated the Soviets.

Well, then let the terrorists breed and grow there. Complacency is the best idea tabs. That sounds like a good plan.

To think that the US has not made a deal on the sly with Mushareef about hunting down Al Qadea in Wazzristan with the Black Helicopters is naive...also it has been in the news that the Pakistani troops have made several incursions into the area...

cool_chick 11-04-2004 05:24 AM

well, hope bush focuses intently on this area next. It's prime area for these terrorists to train. He announced yesterday he's making a "cultural" visit to Iran (or maybe one of his people, don't remember now), so we'll see where that goes.

Keep in mind that CNN, Fox or whoever don't get the info until after the fact ;) There's a lot of current OPS we don't know about.

Lubemaster said:
"These people hate us for what we represent but also because of what we have and what we believe and lastly what they believe."

I hate to break it to you Lube, but they hate us because of what THEY believe, period. What we have, AUR & kuwait are hugely wealthy. They dont hate them. India is Hindu & they hate them.

Then he said:
"Lets face facts - most all extraordinary things are achieved by one for four reasons: greed, guilt, ego or luck."

If you consider 9/11 "extraordinary" then it fits into none. Bin laden was motivated by his belief in the koran & haddiths. These books tell him that the world bisected into two realms, the house of islam & the house of war. They also command him to "kill the infidel wherever you find him" and promise great rewards.

Then he said:
"Not all hate us - just the far religious right who are well eduacated but desire a much greater calling. These terrorists are not stupid sheep, but rather intellegent fundamentalists who feel that the US is jeopordizing their theology."

If thats true then why do they hill hundreds in Bali, Africa, Israel , India and Europe. They do it because their religion commands them to. This is not new or restricted to a small minority. A small minority may commit the acts, but the rest of them know what the books say too. That's why you rarely ever see any concern by "moderate" muslims about these heinous acts.

To be a believing muslim you must believe in the koran & haddiths. Your analogy about the nazis is flawed. To say that only 15% of the population were nazis & the rest tried to deal with it as best they could is fine. A more accurate comparison would be to compare all the nazis to all the muslims. Now I'm sure there were some nazis who were not inherently evil & signed up for whatever expedient reason, I'm sure the same is true in islam. But every one of them that signed up knew what the deal was going in, just like the nazis.

Can any of us Porsche driving US citizens really figure what's going on inside the head of some guy who saws off the head of a captive, or flys a plane into a tall building, or even just hates American's? There are myriad reasons to hate us if you live in another country let alone adhere to fundamentalist religious principles. However, and I have to agree with GW on this, the people that commit these horrible acts are evil doers. They enjoy it. Some people are just plain bad and they need some killing.

Sebring--agreeing with you.

There are people in this world who are, for lack of a better description, evil. The drifter from Utah who kidnapped and raped Ms. Smart--is evil--he should be dead--period. No arguing over his "mental state" or "intentions" just dead.

This should be "unconcious knowledge".
