Star Wars Tonight - Anybody Going??

Just wanted to see if any of you are insane enough to go see Star Wars Episode 3 tonight. My tickets are for 12:01 am so I am here to see if I am the only one.

Tim Walsh 05-18-2005 08:25 PM

saw the last 2 at midnight, was too disappointed by them to go to the midnight showing. and this is coming from a guy who owns 50 or so of the SW books and is a huge fan.

LeeH 05-18-2005 09:31 PM

I seriously considered it, but decided to wait until Friday when I could go with a friend of mine. I've watched episode I and II about three times in two weeks, plus the Cartoon Network series, "Clone Wars."

I'm looking forward to Friday.

hmmm, unfortunately I am afflicted with a serious condition known as having a life. I won't have the time

:D:D:D

bigrubberjeep 05-18-2005 11:17 PM

Oh no.........for the love of god Chris. Not you.

hhhhhmmm, actually now that I think about it, you must be the guy dressed as Darth Vador on the news.

Saw "Revenge of the Sith" today. I was kinda psyched going in (even after reading the script and the comic), but came out incensed.

As I was leaving the theater an usher asked me what I thought of the film.

My answer?

Strike three.

djmcmath 05-19-2005 06:50 AM

That bad, Matt? Ouch. Glad I didn't waste my time...

Adam 05-19-2005 06:55 AM

I just (now) came home from an evening session of the film.

I need time to think about it - I think both Hayden Christensen and Ewen McGregor were great, but the rest of it left me a little cold. I went to the other two at midnight screenings, but I couldn't bring myself to face another late-night disappointment, so I waited until tonight (we're a day ahead of you guys).

I do remember sitting in the theatre wondering if it was directed by Michael Bay...

You guys are killer critics. I wanted to see this because as everybody else to see if it filled in the blanks and it certainly did. I am not the most die-hard fan and I was not playing outside the theater with a light-saber but I thought the movie was great. It completed the first trilogy and leads you into Episode 4 as is supposed to do. My seats were the very front row of the theater so my neck is a little sore right now but if you want the answers go and see it.

After a few beers, it probably could have been me. I like certain sci-fi stuff but I only got to the theater an hour before. I didn't wait a week like some.

I saw a brief story on the news today about the premier of the film. There were two guys standing in the foyer to the cinema, dressed as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.

They were pitched in mock-battle with those ForceFX lightsabers. This was the Dialogue, while they danced around, fighting:

Darth: "Luke, I know what you're getting for Christmas!"
Luke: "Nooooo!"
Darth: "Luke!! I know what you're getting for Christmas!"
Luke: "It can't be true! How do you know?"

(wait for it)

Darth - breathes deep: "I felt your presents!!"

:D

I'll see it in about two months, once everthing dies down. We have Paul Allen's Cinarama here in Seattle, which is the only place in town worth seeing it, unless it were in IMAX format like the last Harry Potter, then I would go to Seattle Center.

I was so disappointed by the vapid, heavyhanded junk GL turned out the last two times that I won't go to the last one. I think he might be a victim of his own genre - he basically created the scifi action movie, and he's been left in the dust.

I'll be watching reruns of the new Battlestar Galactica...

Povi959 05-19-2005 03:57 PM

Going to see it this sunday

I'll wait for the video to come out...OH! Guess it already has. Heard on the radio news that it's already being sold in Mexico City and other metropolis areas for around $3. And NOT a krap version done by the camera in a theatre method, but good copies...I think I'll watch "American Graffiti" tonight...IMHO, that the best Lucas film. ;)

Rob Channell 05-19-2005 06:46 PM

I'm going tomorrow. The evening showings are all packed. We have found that you can skip out on an afternoon of work and see a 12:00 or 2:00 show the day after it comes out with maybe only 20-30 people in the theatre.

Jared at Pelican Parts 05-19-2005 08:05 PM

saw it today...

Better than the other two, but a bit dark. There are a few scenes that are downright hard to watch.

Storyline's a bit hokey and feels rushed and obviously forced to fit continuity with the original trilogy.

Would have been nice if they actually elaborated more into the process of how he turns to the dark side. To me, it seemed like they were trying to present there was only one reason he did and a pretty stupid one at that..

Very true. It did feel rushed. THey covered so much in Episode 3 though. Most of the beginning stuff could have happened in Episode 2 and Episode 3 could have been more drawn out but it leaves a lot to the imagination.

LeeH 05-20-2005 11:09 PM

Saw it this morning... me and a bunch of other 30-40 year old men.

Definitely the best of the bunch. Visually it was amazing. I can't wait to see it again.

Did anyone see Clone Wars on Cartoon Network? It was a good tie between AOTC and ROTS.
