Osama Bin Forgotten
Al Quaeda's prime mover is still out there -- probably in Pakistan.
I heard on te local wacko radio station (KKKFI) the other night that intercepts indicate he may be traveling to Iraq next month to lead an accelerated level of attacks. This one individual poses the number one threat to our national security and I wonder if we're really making any headway in getting to him?

Fact: Currently he is hiding out someplace that is obviously inaccessible. Speculation: So he is going to leave that redoubt of safety and risk getting caught by the US, Afghanis, Pakistanis or Iraqis to go to a place which is much MORE accessible? Make no sense. Especially because the Baathist part of the insurgency would desperately like talks with the government and is opposed to the Islamists. Osama would make a nice bargaining chip on their behalf. Plus, I am sure the few remaining taliban would really appreciate the fact that he is abondoning them.

What you say makes sense in the context of the facts as we understand them.
However, I think there's a lot more going on there than we know.

And nobody could admit the mistake, so we just attacked Iraq instead of Iran. I guess they figured most Americans wouldn't know the difference, anyway.

Like I said many months ago, I suspect that Osama bin Laden considers Dubya's decision to invade Iraq as a dream too good to hope for. I suspect he's biding his time. This notion that he has been "minimized," or that terrorists' hatred for my country has been lowered, or that the number of terrorist recruits is falling....are all untrue.

It is quite easy to hide. It took over 20 years to find Ted Kazinsky and it was only his ego, and his brother that let them catch him. Eric Rudolph is another excellent example. As is the terrorist "Carlos" from the 1970s. It was almost 25 years before they caught him. Hell, people didn't know where Dave Chappelle was for a few weeks. Osama does not want to be found. He is surrounded by people that he trusts and THEY don't want him to be found. They do not use google, the internet, or even cell phones anymore, so unless you are going to get an agent in there to penetrate that very tight inner circle, you are not going to find him unless he slips up. However, ego is a funny thing...as with Kazinsky, I am betting it will be his ego, not some turncoat, that ultimately betrays Osama. And like with any big fish...you've got be patient before you can reel them in. We should be prepared to wait 25 years like the French did with Carlos. Hopefully it will not take that long, but comments on this forum just reinforce that Americans have no concept of patience or persistence.
