This country was supposed to be founded on the idea of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILIY. --Hello--

Stemming out from there, are; Community, Local govt, State govt, AND THEN the Federal govt.

Sadly, so many want to put all their eggs in one freaking huge over-bloated basket called the federal Government. (even tho they all want to claim the head is inept -- how smart is that?)

The number one fault goes to those who MADE THE PERSONAL DECISION to stay. (yes, I know . . how, can I blame the victims . ..it's bad form, and all that rot.)

Here we have the luxury of technology to give pletny of advanced warnig. (and who uses it, and how?)

Even today, some people will not leave that place. . .despite warnigs about the nasty, filthy, disgusting, germ-packed cesspool surrounding them.

I imagine they have their "stash of stuff" squirlled away in the dry-ish attic, and believe they will come out pretty, if they can just keep others away. --that is sad. It's on the order of someone running into a burning building to save their plasma tv.

They didn't heed the warnigs pre-storm, and they aren't heeding the warnings now, of the desease threat. -- I'm sure GW Bush must be somehow responsible for that too.

Come on Island. That is a lot to ask of people.
Taking personal responsibility would mean someone would have to actually do something for their self.

That just wouldn't be the socialist er I mean american way.

This is after all the age of entitlement. Or maybe it was enlightenment.

I was getting frustrated with all the posts blaming the various branches of govt.

We really need to dial-back this over-bloated Federal Big Daddy.

Mother Nature can kick big-daddys ass on a moments notice. That's the way it works. How many times do we have to see this before it sinks in?

WE are most effective when WE take care of ourselves, rather than waiting for some whimpering daddy to come along with a program.

It is great that Big Daddy has an inkling that Mother Nature is going to throw a supreme hissy fit. (weather tracking, tsunami detection, volcano monitoring . ..)

Mother nature, whoever designed/established NO.

The whole right or left party bashing as to disaster awareness or action is just more political propaganda. Whoever was unlucky enough to be in office would have been blamed for something or other.

Lets get our brains out of our collective asses and help in whichever way we can. Criticizing is clearly not a way to help in these days of dispair.
