I think we're making the same point. No, it wouldn't be a news story under different circumstances, and no, the article doesn't mention unfair practices in the school policies. The article itself suggests that, because that's the point the publishers are trying to make.

This may not be quite as it seems, locally, we had a student decide she wanted to wear a tux for the year book senior picture instead of a wrap as dictated by school policy. They didn't put her picture in as she didn't follow the rules. She created a big fuss stating that was because she is gay (even though the code of conduct book clearly states what you can and can't wear for photos) and not because she broke the rules. Well, she made a big it's about gay rights ect. It turned out that she called the media, with the fag & drag ass. and made it an issue, not the school as she 1st claimed , nope the whole thing was a set up to push the gay agenda so don't be surprised if this isn't the same.

You do, they are called Public Schools

Bryan- My only gripe here is the assumption that it's obvious...

I'm sure some can read it as though the author of the story believes these people were singled out. But, it's not obvious. Were it obvious, it would say it. Or hint it. But, the lack of any info regarding the singling out of these parents (or any other parents, or lack thereof) hardly makes anything obvious.

On the flip side, I could argue that the author is obviously anti-Christian. But, it's certainly not obvious. And, could be completely incorrect.

And, for the record... Throwing the kid out seems wrong to me, based on the limited info we have. But, as Mike said, it's their sandbox.

Yes, I realize it seems I'm splitting hairs here.

"....the whole thing was a set up to push the gay agenda so don't be surprised if this isn't the same."

"Shay and her parents said they won't fight the ruling."

Doesn't sound like the parents are pushing anything but, I'll bet this story will grow legs once GLAAD or another gay rights group gets hold of it.

That is the way the one here started, they said that the school alerted the press, but it came out that the girl and her parents called them and the fag & drag ass was pushing the issue until it went to court. I have friends that play for the other team, they don't want their private lifestyles push on the front pages like these activist do. Those of you who ask, "who does this really hurt? well our local school board has to divert already tight funds from education to workshops for cross dressers, yea, the kids suffer.

Whats that ?! Your Public Schools donīt allow students with Christian parents ??

And thanks for pointing out my misnomer - I meant racism in a wider sense - yes, more like discrimination.

Then again, I might have misinterpreted the whole story on account of my poor English language..

And certainly, any "news" printed should be scrutinized carefully, since the agenda of most newspapers is to sell ....well, newspapers. The tastier angle sells better - even if it sometimes leaves out facts that eliminate the news value.

Talking to the crowd? wtf does that mean? Maybe her mommies enrolled her at the school to prove a point, and used her as a pawn. Maybe this 'talking to the crowd' consisted of her bashing the Christian school's policies, or causing some other rukkus? Maybe they had a totally legitimate reason to get rid of this girl, and this is the one way they could find in the handbook to make it happen.

mmm... hot lesbians...
She was a cheerleader. Shay and another cheerleader were reprimanded for talking to the crowd. Apparently they don't allow the cheerleaders to talk to the crowd, which is understandable. Might stir up the fans of the opposing team or something. But then when her mommy and mommy show up for the meeting.....

What if it was just boiled down to the facts?
Student removed from school for parents breaking school's stated (in print) policy
Get rid of the PC issues and it hardly seems worth the time we have all spent on this
They broke the rules. The schools rules. Not any Laws, but the rules the school is run by and the school (right or wrong) had grounds to dissmise them. Whether the school enforcesevery rule on their book every time is up to the Board not the parents.
And I'm not a Lawyer and don't even play one on TV.

"They broke the rules."

In most western countries rules are unenforceable if they are "unconscionable." Given the recent human rights court challenges brought by minority groups I'll bet the parents of this girl would prevail in court.
