I did some work for Frito Lay in Garland. Saw how Cheetos are made. Pretty cool. They take a mix of corn flour and some cheese flavored power and send it through what looks like a plastics extruder. The extruder cooks it and one long Cheeto is extruded out. It is cut and baked. The recipe must have some 'blowing agent' in it becuase it gets expanded. The long Cheeto is cut and more flavor dust stuff is added as they tumble in a big drum.
I have never seen so many Cheetos in my life. Got many bags to take home. I was a hero with the Kids for a few hours.
