Looks like a lot of work, or does the car ever leave second gear?

You rarely hit third on that stretch, but either East or West of there, you can top out third... cars were driving pretty cautiously here because it appears to have been a weekend and the bicyclists are not always off to the right...

Same stretch, different circumstances:

Can't help but think it looks like a tedious road to drive..

nearly all corners are blind
to much traffic
cyclists
bikers
potential for cops to be hiding in the bushes

Why on earth would anybody call that "fun"?
Because it has a few bends in it??? seriously guys... that road is useless for any kind of fun unless it's closed off for traffic and you have a free ticket to gun it with all the horses at one's disposal...
That might make it interesting, that might actually require some real shifting and braking...
The above video, is like watching a guy getting a lapdance...
A he's not getting any, against the rules
B your not getting any either by watching him
C if he tries to get some anyway, he'll probably end up in a hospital, in jail or both.
