OT Contributor of the Year

Over on the technical forum they're discussing nominations for various "________ of the Year" awards. I don't want anyone here left out of the ignomy they so richly deserve.

If I had to nominate someone for being the most lucid, charismatic, insightful and compelling contributor here, well in my mind that would be Superman. Whadda you guys think? Oh, and I think he'd be high on the list of efective troublemakers, except I think there's legitimate competition for that spot.

cowtown 12-15-2005 09:54 AM

Nope, sorry.

slakjaw 12-15-2005 09:57 AM

If I had to vote for the guy with the dumbest, most confuseing, and worst spelled posts. I would vote for slakjaw.

Superman 12-15-2005 10:02 AM

Aw c'mon Colin. Christmas spirit and all that. Okay, I'll cheer you up by nominating you. You can be the contributor who is most disturbed when someone holds an economic theory that disagrees with yours. Or maybe we could just offer accolades for holding tight to your staunch conservative beliefs at the epicenter of liberalism and education. Anything. I'm sure you deserve a "_________ of the Year" and I'll support you as long as I don't know it's untrue.

widebody911 12-15-2005 10:04 AM

I'd suggest a category for the most controversial psycho chick post, but then this thread would get deleted and then someone would post asking what happened to the original thread and I'd start getting angry-whiney phone calls @ 12:00am again so I think I won't.

cowtown 12-15-2005 10:05 AM

LOL, just go back to nominating yourself for something, Supe. I'm sure you'll get the attention you crave. Merry Xmas and all that.

What psycho chick would that be widebody? There are no psycho chicks on this forum.....

Sidenote, someone called you at midnight over a forum???? Weird......

red-beard 12-15-2005 10:10 AM

If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve...

Superman 12-15-2005 10:11 AM

Are you wearing the woolen underwear again to day, Colin? I get plenty of attention. I think it might be my need for discussion that you find frustrating.

cowtown 12-15-2005 10:13 AM

Nah, it's just been a while since I've pulled your string, Supe. Seriously, though, I do have a nomination for you...maybe I should PM it. :)

Superman 12-15-2005 10:15 AM

Okay okay. There's potential for the insight/lucidity/charisma/wisdom crown to be placed on a head other than Superman's (yeah, right). So, I'd nominate Moses. Even though the lazy fellow is probably sleeping right now. And I'd like to acknowledge Jeff Higgins. Those are the guys whose thinking is sometimes on the conservative side, sort of, but who seem to have pretty good brains.

For the true Defenders of Reality, I'm lookin' at Stevepaa, Techweenie, Rodeo and Cool_Chick.

Troublemaking crown goes to Mark Wilson again this year.

Bring it on, Colin. Give it to me straight. I can take it.

It'd have to be Tabs then...or Mull

stevepaa 12-15-2005 10:29 AM

Bless you, legion.

Here's to you.http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...s/beerchug.gif

Sup, thanks, but I can not accept. I can not explain things clearly sometimes, others are far more lucid, superior, in that capacity.

And don't need to edit their posts three times to fix grammar errors. Or misspellings:)

onewhippedpuppy 12-15-2005 10:39 AM

For the Hunter S Thompson award for vaguely lucid, disturbingly amusing posts, I hereby nominate Tabs. Do I hear a second for my nomination?

Are you trying to get rid of tabs? Are you going to nominate him for the Ernest Hemmingway award when he doesn't get the hint?

Tim Hancock 12-15-2005 10:41 AM

I would have to vote for the now absent Overpaid Slacker = 1st place and a tie for second place between Jeff Higgins and Lendaddy. (Higgins kind of creeps me out sometimes because too many of his opinions are identical to mine:eek: :D ) Of course all the rest of the right thinking posters deserve honorable mention.

What fun would OT be without Tabs? Strangely, he has seemed to make more sense lately, either that's a reflection of my mental state, or he has began taking his meds.

M.D. Holloway 12-15-2005 11:33 AM

I'd vote for Shaun G9Girl for "Guy that Evryone Thinks is Gay but Isn't." Award. Sorry dude, better that a buddy ***** ya than a ******* up buddy!

Jeff Higgins 12-15-2005 11:36 AM

I still miss red UFO.

kach22i 12-15-2005 11:37 AM

Contributions are overrated, denial of essence is most important.

you know my girlfriend was saying this just the other day. :)

gaijindabe 12-15-2005 11:43 AM

rrpjr. Brevity, wit and wisdom.

M.D. Holloway 12-15-2005 11:46 AM

I would vote Mrs. K for the best rump but I have never seen her in person. I have to go with what I know and give that honor to Cool Chick.

Cool, you look great walking away...

Superman 12-15-2005 11:47 AM

Don't you love her face. Don't you love her walking out the door.

M.D. Holloway 12-15-2005 11:50 AM

like she did 1000 times before...

great song

Actually, kinda double-tongue-in-cheek meaning

legion 12-15-2005 11:52 AM

Or a new one:

And I am cold
Yes I'm cold
But not as cold as you are
I love the sound of you walking away

Superman 12-15-2005 11:55 AM

I know other people who also think that the answer to every question is easy and obvious. Wish I had a nickel for every time I've wished the questions were as simple to me as they apparently are to you. Abortion is legal. doesn't make it right. Killing is legal. Doesn't make it right.

dd74 12-15-2005 12:00 PM

I plan to lead the chorus at midnight mass with this:

"What's your name?
Who's your daddy?
Is he rich - is he rich like me?"

Yes there are, at least one post that we can recall. Remember the posts that "someone" on this forum made about his lady friend who was being "enhanced" in the upper body area then it went down from there? Might be this lady who called Wide late at night...

Joe A

Burnin' oil 12-15-2005 12:01 PM

How about a category for "Most unlikey to stay on point" or "Most likely to change the subject" etc.

Mark Wilson 12-15-2005 12:01 PM

She's a beard.

M.D. Holloway 12-15-2005 12:05 PM

Why don't your own farts smell?

Most questions are not simple. As someone else has already said, you pick the most important factors and make a decision, and don't bother with wrangling with the minor factors that affect 0.00001% of the situations encountered.

Rules are made to be predictable, and over a large group, fair. They are not designed to account for every conceivable situation.

OMG that's right......

I missed most of that though.....

Or, "Everyone who disagrees with me is wrong (or stupid)."

You have the simplest, blackest and whitest questions and answers of anyone.

Lighten up, SoCal. The attorneys hate my depositions because I cannot answer any question with a simple Yes or No. If you're trying to understand my thinking (no, of course you're not), the either ask....or guess again.
