Another good vid. This one is rare in that it is very high-quality footage. The first running of the Sport S1.

Your friend is a Starship owner? Is he the guy who also has a number of extra airframes for spare parts? I believe there's only one or two that are actually still being operated, as we bought nearly all of them all back from their owners. I work at HBC, for nearly a year we had several Starships sitting on the ramp waiting to be scrapped. It always made me sad to see such a technical achievement waste away.
Stevens Aviation in Denver (Rocky Mountain Airport - Broomfield) has one that they fly several times a week. Unmistakable sound as it flies over the city. Pretty common sight.

Someone told me that Stevens Plane was the chase plane for Burt Rutan's 'SpaceShipOne', but I think that it was Sherer's plane.

I understand that Stevens has many Starship parts including airframes.

The FAA, IMHO, killed this plane.

If you've ever been around a "project" urq, you wouldn't be asking this question. Just take my word for it.

I know of the guy you're talking about and that's a different guy. My friend doesn't have any spare airframe parts but he does have around 100 tires. A few years back there were 5 still flying and he needed tires for his. Goodyear's minimum production run was 500 tires, so they got together and did the math...

Absolutely no doubt. Thanks to the FAA's fear of composites, the plane is built like a tank. Tanks don't fly well.

I know there's some urq fans on the board, so time to re-revive this thread. I finally got my rally car running halfway decent this morning. It's had been sitting in a barn for years. Still needs lots of work and it's got a bad turbo seal (that's the smoke coming out the tailpipe) but running OK now. Enjoy the sound (headphones sound best ).

And then there's Walter Rohrl

I had Audi for years,[ but never a urQ]--I recall on one of those enthusiast forums a keen man
started a project to lift his 5 coupe off the pan and put it on the base of a quattro, probably a 100 sedan. It was a massive task and I dont think he ever finished it.
I had a dearly loved 5 coupe for a few years,and the negatives I remember---pathetic brakes,
crap upholstery, noisy cam followers, and oh why didnt it have a hatchback! --I had an Audi 80 sedan with 2300 5cyl--beautiful car.--bad rep for gearbox[auto ]failures, 4 speed not so bad.
I'm driving an e36 BMW, but I might drop it and look for another Audi!shortly.

That's what I say every time I walk into the shop About 30 seconds after I get the new turbo in I'll be making a beeline to the forest for a shakedown run There's a couple of jumps and it will be interesting to see how the car does. It has a high-travel coilover suspension and a tube-reinforced shell.
