No, I'm not saying that at all. I could be wrong, but I believe Carville and Morris were WH staffers.

I thought they spent most of their time out of the office, cleaning up Billy's indescretions. ;)

Those were known as Bimbo eruptions.

I can assure you that 10 years from now, people won't be wondering whether Karl Rove ever worked in the White House :)

The point is, no president until Bush has put a political consultant in a policy position in the White House, never mind the most powerful staff position in all of Washington, D.C. I'm sure lots of them would have liked to, but no one ever dared.

Bush can do anything (or could) because his supporters accepted anything. Some even argue that he spent all our children's money because the libs made him do it :)

Pg 174.

"Bush may turn out to be extraordinarily lucky and avoid having to face the consequences of his own fiscal actions, especially the hugely ill-conceived Medicare drug bill, and the burden of enacting a major tax increase may fall on his successor. But it will be Bush's fault even if someone else ends up paying the political price."

This from a respected conservative economist. This from a Reganite.

So 5 years from now, when President Clinton (god help us all.....) has to jack taxes throught the roof, let us remember these words.

"...the end result will be a massive fiscal shakedown that will start with huge tax increases and may even include a European-style value-added tax (VAT)."
