i also think it is a snake. they like to crap up against things, and the poop can definately be described as wierd smelling.

Freybird,

the snake isn't too large, 2 or 3 feet. Since you are in Maryland, it should be either a king, rat or pine snake. Usually, you do not find bones in the feces if the snake is healthy and under adequate conditions. If you are near water it could also be from a garter or water snake, they eat mostly fish and amphibians, so their feces smell as bad as you can imagine!
