A friend of mine started "Elbow Grease" lubricants back in '79. THE #1 lube among the U.S. gay crowd... Alot of cash to be made in lubricants. He does VERY well..

Let me see now: Driveway grease cleaning enzymes, hand cleaner, injector cleaner, misc additives. Yup, I'll throw a prayer in.

My brother and I came up with the name for a lube over drinks and laughed about it. Now you have me thinking.

Check out the trademark office. If it is not taken grab it. I know a company that will private label for you.

Its not trademarked, I am going to start the mark procedure this evening.

We about fell out of our chairs when we came up with this name and my brother came back the next day and said we should trademark it and market it.

Have at it. If you want to make it I can help. If you want to actually sell it you will have to figuer out a sales channel. with only a name it name seem like a gimick but if you actually put some energy into what you would like to to do (what prodlems you need it to solve) then I might be able to help ya out. The biggest hurdle is the sales channel. Yopu can't offord a direct sales force so yu would have to establish a distribution channel. Grainer and McMaster Carr would dry up your margins. Their may be a few other crerative things that you can do - is this a personal lubricant or one for equipment? If it is personal then there is the opportunity to have a toll mfg make it for you using on of their formulas. This will allow you to use their FDA approvals. If you do any formula changes then you have to apply for approvals which you can not afford. even if you are very wealthy, you still couldn't afford it!

If it for equipment use, that is another story. You could also have a toll mfg make it and package it for you and use one of their formulas or tweek it or do someing totally different. Mind you, if it is something new and not put through field trials and development protocols you will have to carrya pretty stout hold harmless note - at least $5mil per incident that covers equipment and personal liability.

The whole thing gets pretty costly real quick and we haven't even really touched upon the best way to sell it. If you just want to see you idea in lights (on a product lable) and will exchange it for a few cases of oil, I may be able to do something for you. As for getting any chink out of it by selling the TM to a lube company, I know we won't buy it and I am pretty sure no one else will either. If I had a dime for every call I got for a new product idea or name someone wanted to sell me I would have a stable of cars 4 times larger than Motions!

Speaking of funny lube names, I've heard of "Demon Semen" a bicycle lubricant that is supposed to be good for lubing engine lid release cables but I've never been able to find it.
