I'll go with Vinny on the liquid glove advice. I've used that with limited success, but it might do the trick for under your fingernails. But like Kurt, I use gloves except for when it's just too hot & I get too much sweat inside. You actually get used to using them & like it. I just change them often. Harbor Freight has nitril gloves @ 100 in a box for about $11 & on sale for $8 at times. You can still get most of the feel for what you are doing.

I've been using latex gloves for years. Costco sells 3 box packages for about $8.
When not using gloves I use a nail brush and Orange Citrus Go-Jo with pumice. I always get everything off. |
I use gloves for simple and messy jobs like oil changes, but find that I can't manipulate tools well enough to get by when doing more intricate tasks. I typically try, and within 5 minutes the gloves are in the trash.

I use Permatex Fast Orange with great results.

Brake cleaner and/or nail polish remover. I use brake cleaner for everything and I have used it to remove grease from my skin and clothing; it works great!!!!
