5.75% CD for 8 months

Rates on CD are going up at my credit union, rates are better than ING and Emigrant Direct.com

What rates are you seeing on short term CD'S?

Michael

I just got 5.5% on a 6 month CD at my credit union. Their normal stated rate was about 4.75%, but I told them everyone else was doing 5.5% or better, & if they couldn't be competetive I'd go elsewhere. The teller talked to the boss & came back with 5.5% However, I was prepared to go to one of the online banks, since they are just as convenient.

The "eligibility list" excludes most of us here.

Was getting 10% tax free for 6 years then it ended. Now getting 7% tax free for the last 7 years at the same institution.

Anyone interested email me for details, not going to post it here. Before you ask, yes its safe and its through a very well known and established bank.

I am a big ING fan because of the no minimum CD. Does the OCTFCU have a minimum? Do they pay end of term or monthly like ING?

Hey Chris,

They pay monthly, ING is good, easy to use, but you give up almost 100 basis points.

Shop around if you are looking for a CD these days.

Michael
