I tried to use paragraphs when I listed the car but the ebay site crammed them all together..

I just learned yesterday about how to insert the paragraph trick

I am lazy and somtimes dont turn off the caps Lock..

Because people dont believe something does not necesarily make it untrue or a lie.

As far as why I dont rebuild my engine after over 15 years of beating it to death..

Well my tired old engine still pulls very strong..If it aint broke dont fix it is my philosophy.

The car does not see the road that often maybe 300-500 miles a year so in reality it only has around 5,000-7,000 miles on this engine. I do regular service as required.

I also know that at Lemans and at Daytona these cars run at full throttle for 24 hours.. That means that they are at or near Redline for literally thousands of shifts with no problems. I beat my car when racing but that does not happen every time that I drive it..

That is also why Porsche has always been so successful in racing.. Reliability..

You cant win if you dont finish!

I also have rebuilt literally 100s of 356 motors that have been raced and with the exception of bearings and rings there is lillte or no internal damage.. unless they have been granaded or run low on oil..

One last question

I did ask my resident Porsche expert about your car...

He mulled over the ad and we came up with this.

Your explanation on the beat a 930 to 90mph is completly plausable..(using myth buster terms)...given the right driver and his willingness to wind his motor that far...

You have the correct car with the correct motor...2.4 but its been modified so the stock 6500 rpm limiter was removed obviously and you have increased your HP from the stock 190 (or was it 210) to something much more.

So the only question left is how do you get to 168 mph on "hill climber gears". Arent those really close ratio low gears all the way up to 5th?
The stock 915s 4 and 5 speed were all pretty close.
With the stock I could see easily...but lower the gear ratio and you tend to take that away...

Not that I dont believe you, I just find it hard to believe having re-read your ad with that statement....Holiday Inn stay or not, if it is true then I find it to be inspiring and something to shoot for in a mod.
I not an expert just a curious duck tail owner...OK I have stayed at a Holiday Inn.....There I said it.....

Wish I had a lawn chair to sit and watch...

Yeah? I know I have Osco springs in it, but forget what else makes up the valvetrain. Will it rev that high while also making power?

YOUR QUESTION MAKES PERFECT SENSE!

THE 915 TRANS WAS BUILT WITH SHORT GEARS 1ST-4TH..

FIFTH GEAR IS A 29/21 TALLER GEAR FOR CRUISING..

MOST OF MY RACING IS IN TIGHT CANYONS SO I RARELY SEE 4TH... AND UNLESS WE ARE IN A LONG STRAIGHT I NEVER SEE 5TH..

ALSO REGARDING THE ENGINE.

WE HAVE INSPECTED THE ENGINE AND WITHOUT TAKING IT APART IT APPEARS TO BE A STOCK 2.4 "S"...

I CAN TELL YOU FROM RACING FOR 40 YEARS THAT SOME ENGINES JUST RUN BETTER..

YOU CAN BUILD 2 INDENTICAL ENGINES AND ONE WILL JUST WING AND RUN BETTER.

PORSCHE DYNOS EVER ENGINE AND EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE A MOTOR WILL PUT OUT EXTRA HP FOR NO APPARENT REASON.. IN THE OLD DAYS BEFORE THEIR RACE DEPT THEY WOULD PULL THOSE ENGINES FOR THE RACE CARS.

Dude! I'd keep it if I were you. No B.S. - it sounds like a special car. I'm up for keeping what's special while getting rid of what isn't special. Not to mention, if your car can do all that you claim, I'm not certain others will understand how special it is, and from that, pay the money you want for it.

It's all about perception.

Dude, we were doing so well. CAPS LOCK!!!!

BTW, it's got too much bottom end to be a 2.4 ... I think it's either a TRUE 2.4 (honed out birals) or a 2.7.

...if you factor in the aero changes, wouldn't this '75 stand a better chance at 165 mph ?

...can't load it yet

OOOPS..CAPS LOCK..

From what I can tell any 2.4 "S" engine could probably pull the 8,500 RPM.. The rev limiter is at 7,300 RPM so it is only an extra 1,200 RPM. No big deal.

This engine may be bone stock or may have 2.2 "S" (10.8/1) Pistons and Barrels which is still a 2.4 liter with the 2.4 Crank. Or maybe it is a 2.5 ST I have no idea.. But I knew from the first time that I drove the car that it was very strong! I have a 1973 911E that pulls very strong also..

The person who asked about why compression and porting would have an effect on RPM it is simply because there is more Air/Fuel being force into the combustion chamber giving a bigger bag. The more compression you can get without detonation the more RPM and power. The new cars can run much higher compression on lower octane fuel because of the computers and knock sensors.

In reality only a slight increase in air (oxygen) into the combustion chamber causes a huge difference... Think about how much power you loose at altitude or how much you gain on a cool morning.. (denser air)

my 2 cents: That particular targa with its owner was following me some years ago on one of my Solvang Stomps. Redline on the 2.8 motored 74 Carrera I was driving was achieved at 7800 rpm with 225/50 x 15 tires- that dang blue targa was still on my butt at that speed!!

Yes.. the road and weather conditions were exceptional

Well, quips and jabs aside, good luck with the sale, Malibu. The other 911 you have for sale is a real beauty too.
