I remember when Olbermann was a sports reporter here in LA. I thought he was an egotistical idiot.
Then again, "reporter" and "egotistical idiot" are synonyms these days. Then again, "politician" and "egotistical idiot" are synonyms too. Then again, "pundit" and "egotistical idiot" are synonyms too. Hey...there's a pattern here. Last edited by nostatic; 10-19-2006 at 05:00 PM.. |

You know, Seahawk, you've been a disappointment lately. You've indicate an opposition to the centralized all powerful state in words, but then have supported the centralized Lincolnian state with subsequent statements. A logical inconsistency. Why? |

Rodeo, the fact that you can level all sorts of charges at O'Reilly yet think Olberman is the greatest thing since sliced bread betrays your bias and false centrism. They are two of a kind, like Hitler and Stalin. Same tactics, different ends of the political spectrum. You've given up the right to pretend to speak for the average American.

Sorry, I don't buy the O'Rielly/Olberman comparison.
I know it's a way to dismiss him without considering any of this opinions (not a single one of which has been mentioned in all the attacks on him in this thread), but the fact that O'Rielly is a transparent shill for the admin does not make Olberman his mirror image. Olberman is disgusted with this president, as am I, but he is not a spokesman for "the left."

Gentlemen (and I use that word advisedly)
The very tone of the posts and the posters says a lot about your openness, honesty, and bias. Personally, I do watch Keith. Ratings be damned. He has one quality that most other pundits do not have....a sense of humor. len...you attack the man's character rather than the man's message. That is truly beneath you since I feel you are overall a very well read, intelligent person. But, you are sometimes blinded by your bias. No matter how you deny it and claim to be open minded, your political posts practically SCREAM "Right good.....Left evil....." legion....and people like Hannity are not "shills" for the RNC? Bias know no limits on either side of the aisle. Anyone who takes anything these pundits say in the way of "opinion" as true is in serious need of therapy. They are no better than the folks on Comedy Central except in one way: Comedy Central is open and honest that their pundits ARE entertainers.

That said I do listen to many left wingers, it's not the message that I have a problem with, I hear it all the time. It's him personally, he's a drama queen attention whore. So when I criticize him it is for his persona, my disagreement with his message is a given. He's an egotistical idiot, hence I dislike him. He is the leftist politico's version of a smutty romance novel. You know it's trash, but it's entertaining and titillating. For anyone to claim he's "brave" or noble is an absolute effin joke.

In all honesty, name me one pundit who is NOT consumed by ego? It has NOTHING to do with party or philosophy. Personally, I find Keith funny, but not as funny as "The Daily Show" (actually their news content is quite good!!)

Olberman is as far from "left" as daddy is from "right."
daddy's a Bush lover, Olberman can't stand Bush. So daddy can't stand Olberman. It really is that simple.

And sure most hosts have an ego, but nothing like his dumb ass (and O'Reily). And again I cannot stress enough what a drama queen he is, it's embarrassing. I watch most of the "crooks and liars" videos every morning (it's a lib site) but I can hardly watch him anymore, he's so fake it makes me want to vomit....seriously.

Just place yourself for a few moments as an outsider (maybe an E.T. type) and ask yourself after observing the different comments about our leadership, Why are so many people anti Bush? There has to be some logical reason other than "they just hate the president". I have been trying to find the answer to this question for some time now, and have concluded that the majority of the people sense some inconsistency, some waffling but at the same time a reluctance to admit that things have not gone as well as they might have. Some people simplify this as "being lied to". These people, many of them insensitized by the debacle during the Clinton administration have arrived at a saturation point with the government. Sadly, these people will still overall vote the way daddy did and granddaddy, feeling that, although the entire government is corrupt, their guy is OK. On a more personal note, what I find most disturbing about the president's message is his dependence on the concept of "fear" and "terror". Perhaps we should revisit the words of FDR and, for the 21st century say: "We have nothing to fear but those who use fear as a weapon against us." The words from our leadership, to me, are becoming more shrill and meaningless, based on unprovable abstract concepts, and smacking of desperation. Personally, I would like to see a "debate" between Bill and Keith. I think it should be a PPV event in Madison Square Garden.

Daily Show bashed Clinton plenty hard. Yes, they clearly lean left, but they never turn down the opportunity to find humor in idiotic political behavior on either side of the aisle.

An Olberman/O'Reilly debate would leave Bill on the floor in a wet, soggy heap. That's why you'll never see it happen.
I agree that Olberman has a giant ego. We all have flaws, but the good side is that his ego is what gives the show so much energy.

He's a tool that spews whatever drivel will get him ratings and put money in his wallet. He profits from fools who buy into his drivel, making them not only tools but tools who perpetuate inaccuracies.
