gunfight
well it was one hundred and twenty five years ago today in tombstone, arizona. a skirmish between the earps and the clantons, doc holiday and a few others.
by the way, the O.K. was short for old kinderhook corral. i will be raising a glass to toast the hostilities and the combatants, join me if you feel like it. and remember, there is nothing wrong with shooting, as long as the right people get shot. |

i prefer a winchester mod.97 hammer pump for anything within pistol range. classy, vintage, and devastatingly effective.

Old Kinderhook was an endearing nickname given to one of the Presidential candidates around the mid 1800s. I can't remember which one right now, but it was supposed to engender positive feelings & encourage votes. That's where OK came from.

Great picture.
I will have to watch Tombstone this weekend. I know that it is just a movie and not historically correct but it does kick ass. "I'll be your huckleberry".

"here lies lester moore. shot by a .44. no les..........no more." tombstone graveyard. if you want the definitive truth on the shootout, look up bob boze bell. editor for true west magazine, here in cave creek,az. friend of the family. was consulted on last tombstone movie. many myths perpetrated by dime store novelists. doc holiday smoked opium like a chimney! lots of stories about johnny ringos demise..........which is true? some very good reading.
common cowboy trait.........stuff $20 bill in number 6 hole on pistol cylinder, fer "burying money". |
