When you think you've got it dialed, try to find a club w/ Olympic Trap. OMG Voice activated launchers at LEAST 2x as fast as regular trap, they cover about twice the distance too. I can shoot 94 out of 100 pretty easily on the 16 yd line...I get 5 on olympic trap. My choice is either 5 stand or sporting clays. Lots of fun hanging w/ the guys. I shoot a Browning GTI Citori, ported, backbored, kickeez pad. Good gun on club birds too!

So what is the double under the Ithaca 51? Looks like an old Stevens. Nice brace of guns by the way.

targa,

there are two nice sporting clays courses here in western PA-- Hunting Hills down near Garrads Fort
The Shooting Academy at Nemacolin

Hunting Hills has a steak dinner/round of clays night--IIRC on Thursdays--one price gets the round and a nice steak dinner.

The Academy has (2) great 5-stands, a long bird, fur and feather, 2-man flush in addition to the course itself.

I recommend both.

wow targa I went and looked at the ithaca, yes it is a model 51. I have no idea how you did that. Also I went and looked at the stamping for the double and it was made in Apr of 1915

The double is made by Riverside Arms. Co. Somewhere in Massachuesetts.

Riverside was made by Stevens. They made tons of guns for the working man, mostly sold in hardware stores. Even with the busted stock (which I can fix for you) it should be worth $250.00 to $350.00. Of course in sentimental value it's worth much more. Depending on how good the barrles are inside. Oh I saw the 51 for sure. I'm an Ithaca collector and I am working on a 51 right now. It's a centennial model that I am restoring and up grading the wood. I will post pics of where it is at so far later for you.

The stock isn't the only thing wrong witht he double, sadly. It will only shoot out of one barrel, and occasionally will shoot out of the other. I would love to see it restored maybe as a christmas present for my dad. Send me a PM.

Does anyone have any thoughts on a Remington SPR 100.

I was thinking it would make a good, cheap backup for trap.

And having an extra means I can always bring a friend along...

I think if I bought another gun before Christmas, my wife would leave me. I probably won't shoot trap again until March so I have time. (Too damn cold right now.)

Targa, I bought an Ithica model 37 (IIRC) all black with birds stamped on the sides around ten or fifteen years ago. I pull it out and clean it every few years but it has never been fired (hard to find places in the city where I can use it) I presume it was a very common shotgun but I am thinking of putting up for consignment and use that money for a pistol I could use at the local indoor range. Can you give me a guess at a decent price for it just so I don't give it away?

Scott,
I would go to gunbroker.com and search it. But in 12 ga., anywhere from $250.00 to $350.00. Good home gun. Every criminal in the world knows the sound of that gun being cocked! rubber buckshot and you're in biz.

I'm so glad that I'm not nuts about Shotguns...The only ones I have are SxS Parkers, Elsie Smith and a Fox...oh an a 97 Solid Frame Riot.

Otherwise it would be Parker City, Purdey, H&H and Wesley Richards..among others.

As it stands now I have a thing for Rigbys....rifles not shotguns.

Tabs...those are all in a class I will never own. Fun to see at gunshows, but way above my level of collecting. I feel good about owning a grade 4 Ithaca and a Philly Fox.

"Elsie Smith"? You got a steno on the payroll?
I'd be interested in your '97 solid frame should you wish part with it in the future.

I bought those guns a long time ago when they were much cheaper.
