Hugh, you know I'm only teasing and joking around. it's a way of life down here. nothing else to do down here but sit around and drink, but then we would just tease each other and joke around even more, which would probably lead to more sitting around and drinking. a vicious cycle I tell ya! Tell Mama Rose I'm just messing with you.

There was a really informative thread on OT about a year ago on this very subject with pictures and lots of references. I tried but I can't find it anymore. Maybe somebody else will have more luck.

While in Saudi made stuff for a year or so. A very good friend of mine made it for over 10 years while there and cleared $100k a year in profit, but it was a semi full time job (aside from working on planes for a living that is!) for him and his wife.
Mine came out 186 proof then was cut down with water to 130 or so, then it was put in a 1 gallon glass jar. Fill the jar with Jack Daniels BBQ chips and let it sit for two weeks. After that it had turned nice and brown and had gotten close to the taste of whiskey. After a while in Saudi, it tasted close enough considering that a bottle of real Scotch cost $350, and bourbon $300 (thats dollars, real money, not Saudi) if you could find it. Not hard to mix, sugar or molasses and water, let it ferment for a while then cook it in a crock pot made into a still with a 1 gallon glass jar sitting inside. Boeing made a book for us called the "Blue Flame" that taught anyone how to make hootch. They did not condone it but the book taught you how to make it and not get sick or blow yourself up.

If you want a very good still for home use, google "reflux still". Or just go HERE. This type is very efficient, and can be built inexpensively. Of course, you should obtain the proper permits and licenses prior to operation. This information is provided for education and information purposes, and is not to be construed in any fashion as an encouragement to break the law.
