Seems as if you guys can't make the distinction between stores that are out for the buck and services which are necessary. Yes, there were food stores and service stations open this today, but even many of those closed at reasonable times, allowing employees to go home early enough for dinner.

On the other hand, CompUSA is opened at 9:00PM and closes at midnight. Is this really necessary? Tomorrow is Black Friday and there will be plenty of time to shop.

If the CompUSA had been open today maybe I'd have considered going. There's no way in hell I'm going anywhere near a retail joint tomorrow. I've got to bring my MB into the dealership in the morning (it's got a scratch on it and I want to see if they can fix it or refer me to a shop) and after that I'm driving to the office to actually get some work done. So if I spend so much as a dime tomorrow, it'll be for a little touch-up paint work and that's about it.

Anyone that goes shopping tomorrow is an idiot, IMO.

Was in the jet flying all Thanksgiving. Almost 14 hours of duty and awake 22 by the time I got back to the hooch.

I volunteer to work the holiday seasons. If there is a mission to fly I am happy to do it. It leaves the guys/gals with kids able to spend a very important Holiday with their children, which is more important than my sitting at home. Yes, I do have family, and a lady friend from time to time but I remember what it was like to have Dad gone from time to time and do not want other kids to have this happen.

One other thing that VBaron might address is that many of the holiday workers are of another faith who do not celebrate these holidays. They make large amounts of overtime and for the most part are happy to do so as they are usually given their personal holidays off in return.

Its not always the way it seems...

I found a Kragens -auto parts- in San Clemente open on Thursday, sure made me happy. If I had known a CompUSA was open I would have been there too.

Starting today I boycott all stores that might have a possibility of Christmas Shopping going on....I expect to end it mid January, after all the shoppers have left the buildings. In honor of Yogi Berra.

I'm thankful that our local ski area made its employees work yesterday.
There was a foot of new powder.

I shop where I want, people work where they want.
