I am willing to bet the ambulance was not zero emissions.

Is that kinda like the modern interpretation of:

But then, I'm an old man. The LA Times reviewed that motorcycle in today's edition. E-Tracer review: A plug-in electric for those who like a challenge - latimes.com Sorta long, bu if you read toward the end, the author and tester dropped it on its side in just the first few feet. Apparently they are tough to master. |

Bike came off the sidewalk and impacted the side of the EV (which, ironically, was a two-wheeled vehicle).
I am a huge support of cycling and those who ride. Yet were I at this scene, with citation authority, the cyclist would have gotten a ticket. If you want the right to the road, then you must follow the laws of the road. angela (lotsa time on 2 wheels...)

Angela,
I know how you feel. I have been racing since the mid 80 (at age 16) and have logged many miles on city streets but haven't ridden in the past 10 years. Cyclist aren't what they use to be. We used to ride single pace lilne. If the road way were wide enough, we pull duoble pace line and always made sure traffic can go around is at all time. We made sure we ride close to the side walk as much as possible. I know WTF is with people who ride bikes now. They take up the whole lane talking doing 10 miles an hour. They reguse to get over. |

You are EXACTLY right! I started riding road in the late 80's. Back in the day, with our goofy big Bell helmets and toe straps, we all road single file with a tight rolling paceline, on wide shoulders, maybe a close two-abreast if there was good visibility and little or no traffic. Everyone rode like that, racers, rec riders, EVERYONE. We rode as if we were sharing the road and had no more rights than any other users, but a great more personal risk for screwing up!
Now people spill out into wide groups and block traffic, blow stop signs, etc. Cars bunch up and get pissed off. Frankly I don't blame them! Not only is it dangerous, it's rude as hell. I very seldom ride on the road with anyone, anymore. It's gotten to the point where I really believe that I am safer by myself. If anyone, as a cyclist, wants respect in traffic, be courteous at all times, ride as far to the right as safely possible, and obey the laws. No matter how rude the dude in the car is, you can always make the matter worse and it's YOU who will wind up dead... agnela

Sounds pretty cut and dried as the cyclist's fault. I bet he doesn't have insurance, like operators of motor vehicles are required to have. That electric bike and the camera the passenger were carrying ain't gonna be cheap to fix, not to mention hospital bills.

No, they don't. They just annoy people and turn bikers into fags (south park reference, nothing to do with homosexuals).
People who operate vehicles, whether cars, motorcycles, or bicycles, have eyes. They are supposed to pay attention, to look. Lots of deaf drivers out there, and they aren't running into folks left and right. No blind drivers though, go figure. No, if someone needs to hear another vehicle coming in order to avoid it, they are just Darwin recipients awaiting their turn. Odds are it had more to do with a bicycle rider's BS sense of entitlement and smugness that got him into trouble, thinking because he's saving the world it belongs to him now. Either that or his "gender confused" cycling outfit was riding up and distracted him
