Recent Knife Obsession
I've always thought well made knives are pretty cool, but recently I have found myself obsessed with picking up a good one.
Picked up the Benchmade 5000 Presidio Auto: Hopefully this will satisfy the need for a while, I don't need a new expensive hobby/obsession - I already have one... Anyone else into knives? Gordo

Don't know too much about knives themselves but there is a cable-access-type show on the INFO channel (directv/SAT) called......................................"The Knife Show"
It is so low bucks produced that it is starting to become a cult hit. Think of the the home shopping network on a $50.00 a day budget with a couple of real country boys hawkin the stuff. I swear it is a blast just to watch. Catch it on Weekends after 9:00pm. VERY entertaining !!

I've got 6 or 7 Benchmades (all blue box) including one of their autos (2500 mini-reflex). I'd like to get an AFO. Very well made knives. I prefer the pricier models that don't have plastic handles and have the harder blades. I had the Al handle in on strip some threads once. Sent the knife in and when they sent it back the only thing left from the original knife was the blade which they had sharpened.
mine is not serrated ![]() mine looks exactly like the middle knife, but in the bottom size, great pocket knife ![]() It's an auto, nice knife, but a bit small to be an auto. I'd like a bigger similar auto. ![]() what I currently carry daily. I love the Axis lock even more than the liner lock. ![]() mine is serrated. Nice knife, but not really my thing, it was a gift ![]() I have the plastic handled non-auto version of this knife. Another gift. ![]() Seems like I'm leaving something out, but I can't think what.

A few years ago, someone was selling off their collection of Randall knives. All in completely new, unsharpened, and unsheathed condition. I bought two of them.
The upper one in this photo is the larger Randall model 15, semi-custom with the silver-nickel hilt, walnut, mulitple layer spacers. The lower one is interesting, to me, in that it's a full on custom knife by Jim Jacks, Corona, CA. That's a Stellite 6K blade, almost no iron content, with a nickel-silver engraved hilt, stag grips. ![]()

I understand the collecting aspect of knives, we all like cool stuff. But, do you ever use these things? A buddy has the knife fetish tool, must have at least a dozen. Just curious, I never carry a knife and cant imagine a reason to.

I keep a good Benchmade lockblade in the compartment in my 928 door. 1001 uses, and i end up using it at least 1x a month for a variety of tasks.
When it comes to collecting blades, i went the sword/ancient weapon route instead. I have about 15 of em i guess, most of em are hangin' on my walls. |

I carry a pocket knife pretty much everywhere I go, and I manage to use it at least a couple of times a week. When I first started carrying a pocket knife I was a bartender. I had to cut lemons and limes for drink garnish every day, and the knives at the bar were horrible. My pocket knife was razor sharp everyday. I just never stopped.

I also am a knife guy. I carry this everyday (sorry couldn't copy the picture, stupid website)
Benchmade 3550 Auto Pardue http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=3550 I also have one of these (its a little big to carry everyday): Benchmade 9100 Auto Stryker http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=9100 I also found one similar to this in the sand on the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior on a kayaking camping trip years ago, almost stepped on it. Mine says something like "Special Forces Model" on it. I will have to take a picture. http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=10450SB. This doesn't include all of my Buck's and Spyderco's and various other knives. Cool thread. Bill |

This is only slightly off topic because I don't carry this, but it is an amazing knife made by Dan Harrison I got for my birthday last year.

I have four or five knifes kicking around the house that I use however I just bought this and it is more just to look at than to work with.
I got this at the same time as more of a working knife. As proof of my obsession I had a good range of assorted kitchen knife but I bought this set anyway.
