Realistically, I wish I could justify (afford) the extra $$ it would take to trade for a Lotus Exige. I think the Exige/Elise is characteristic of the values Porsche engineersahad in the early years.

Unrealistically, most Ferraris. I really love those Renault Alpine A10's too.

The reason I got into Porsches is I felt that it is the closest thing to the motorcycle on four wheels. However, this katoom might do:

Yes, I'd also trade a stack of $10 bills for a stack of $1000 bills. Or a bucket of diamonds.

I have a 77 911 that is low miles and like new. The car gets, as most of you also experience, a lot of looks at gas stations and some people think they cost the same as a Ferrari.

A guy with a new F250 4WD truck was filling up opposite me one day and said “one day – I’d like to have you car for one day. How bout we trade”. I looked at the new F250 knowing about what they cost and said to him that I only live a mile away and I could go get my title and would be happy to trade even right there at the gas station – he could drive away in the car of his dreams. I was serious and figured I could sell it and find another 911 and come out ahead. He thought I was joking and never took me seriously, stating he knew my car was worth 3 times what his truck cost and didn’t believe me when I told him it was a 77 mdl.

My wife and I had a good laugh about it.

I don’t care what you SC and turbo look guys say – those mid 70’s cars really are the timeless design.

Interesting topic and thread - I've actually done the 'swap' - no money changed hands just signed the car over to each other.

I had this:

Swapped it for this:

The best part is we both walked away happy.

Ferrari 330 guys have you seen the website that chronicles the restoration of one of these? It's by a guy that works (or worked) for the Letterman show i believe. It's been a long time since i looked at it so i don't recall the addy. Super cool though.

Really cool stuff. At the time (not very long ago) the 4 light versions were out there for $20's. Of course who knows what the condition was like.

Regarding swapping my car; other than for an all original 'E' in a better color I suppose i'd happily swap keys for a Dino. Fantasy, I know, but a beautiful car IMO and a touching story behind it.

I love this thread...

On more of the dream car side, I totally agree about the Toyota FJ40. I've been looking around for a nice one, but they're all $25,000+. There was a sweet 1967 one for sale on line. It was $39,000 but totally restored.

My all time dream car is

There's just something about the curves.

I'd trade my 911 for this:

1967 330 GT Spyder

The engine of a similar car

Until I had to get that first tune up. Typical cost for a tune up not involving repairs is over $7000.00.

I too have done it.

I traded an '88 930 Cab and a '04 BMW X5 for an '06 Audi S4 Cab.

I still miss the old girl in summers, but it was the right move at the time. I'll have another someday.
